Qwiss If you had asked me a month ago, I would've been all over this but I thought he was a passenger in our two games and did not look like he could handle physicality whatsoever. I'd rather have Nico Williams or Antoine Semenyo personally - two guys that can handle the pace and physicality of the EPL game and are also used to taking on the creative burden as opposed to being a cog in a galactico squad.

Qwiss earlier this season, Bellingham described Rodrygo as Madrid’s most talented player - ahead of Vinny and Mbappe. He is a very gifted player who has to play on the right to accommodate those two players. But his goal contributions are much higher when he’s on the left.

He has 11 goals and 7 assists in all comps versus 9/8 for Kvara, 10/7 for Nico and 9/5 for Martinelli. This despite playing out of position. Recall how putting Raphinha in the right position turned him from good to great. I think it’s an opportunity to quickly lift a player

samthegooner this doesn't seem logical. If you watch two games where Nico is a passenger, will you change your mind from all over it to not wanting him? I thought Mbappe and Vinicius and Bellingham were bad against us as well, but I would've taken all three of them.

As I say he's not a bad player but he's not a game changer. He's 24 and never had a big scoring season. At least with someone like Williams he's younger and has more scope to improve. Plus I just like him and think he's ready to step up. Feel about him how I felt about Isak when we pathetically went for Jesus instead.

Also I checked the stats of the 4 we are talking about and Martinelli has the best league goals per 90 of the lot. And he's playing in the strongest league of the lot. He'll be a lot harder to upgrade on than people think.

Something I’ve said many times. Martinelli is far better than people give him credit for relative to the alternatives. The goal should not be to replace, but to augment. Which is also why I’m not particularly stuck on a specific player. Any high performer like Williams or Rodrygo would be welcome.

Qwiss Rodrygo may not be the right fit for Arteta and the PL, but he's one of the best attacking technicians in the world. This season's Madrid are a poorly organized outfit, but don't get it twisted, Rodrygo is a Saka-level talent and has more technical quality in his big toe than Martinelli has in two feet. At a certain point we need to prioritize creativity and technical quality, we can't just have a bunch of pressing runners up front.

Claudius look I wouldn't be upset if we got Rodrygo, he should be on the list but I have a few ahead of him and price and contract would be sticking points if they go too high. Its like this Rodrygo and Sesko wouldn't be top of my forward additions lists but if we signed both plus Zubi I'd still call it an incredible summer.

QuincyAbeyie Fair response. I've seen more games where he's seemed relatively anonymous and I've definitely seen some games where Nico has not been amazing. I guess it's moreso seeing Rodrygo play against a tough physical team and basically disappear has me concerned. Also I think Rodrygo is going to cost a good deal more than Nico will in terms of transfer fee.

I've watched a lot of Real Madrid this season and for sure there are many players who are not being optimsed due to two things 1) the incredibly poorly constructed midfield, and 2) the way they stacked 3 top left wingers into one team. so basically the forwards don't get good early service in the right place, and both Mbappe and Rodrygo often find themselves in places where they can't be most impactful.

rodrygo is shoe horned into RW at real. he'd be a genuine upgrade for us playing in his natural LW position. he's the perfect age profile. he's the type of player that will go rip it up for city or liverpool and have us all complaining why we didnt try. we should be on this, but again, I don't hear much noise to suggest we'll spend big at LW unless we sell trossard

Our net spend was like £30m last year, and we've made the CL semis. We should have money to burn. And we're not spending huge on a striker, the realistic options are around the £60-70m category.

Qwiss I agree, he is in the level below Saka. Saka is among the top 3 wide players in world football, you just have to see how teams set up to try and nullify him.

Tier 1: Elite, world class wingers: Yamal, Salah, Saka, Vinicius Junior, Kvaratskhelia, Dembele, Raphinha

Tier 2: High quality wingers: Rodrygo, Rafael Leao, Sane, Luis Diaz, Coman, Gnabry, Martinelli

Tier 3: Rising stars: Barcola, Doue, Guler, Chukwueze, Williams (young and could land 1 or 2 eventually)

Tier 4: Strong wingers who've reached potential: Rashford, Mitoma, Doku, Madueke, Torres, etc.

Claudius Tier 4 gives us the best chance to win the Europa/Conference league. I vote we sign players exclusively from here.

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert

Saka in the same tier as Yamal seems a stretch. That kid is all by himself. Maybe Salah can join him on a good day.

Rodrygo is one of the most overrated players in the world. Would be exposed in the premier league.
