In my opinion we should invest in another striker (said as much in the "Who should we sign?" thread), but that player should be an elite young talent, and that requires more preparation.
Any available backup 9 without big upside, between Gyökeres or Havertz looking down to Merino in quality, who is distinctive from other squad options who "could play there" such as Trossard, Martinelli, Madueke and even Jesus ... that isn't a good idea.
That profile won't play on our wing, wouldn't play up front except in a blue moon due to his inferiority to Gyökeres and Havertz and likely others, and loses value on the bench.
That's what Arsenal would get if the club signed, say, Wissa. Might as well re-sign Nketiah.
