Ah but what I was saying was at the point teams started to sit back the coaches thought this probably isn't going to work. He has done fine. But his performance drop was expected due to the shift on how the opposition approaches us. And that was reflected in the targets we chased.

Qwiss The one thing about the left wing that isn't talked about is the type of player Martinelli is and the type of player Arteta wants there. If we play Eze at LW he is going to come deep and central a lot.

We've seen Arteta experiment with Trossard at left 8 a few times and I can imagine Arteta viewing Eze as closer to Trossard's skillset without being quite the defensive lightweight Tross tends to be: the Belgian does the work but he's not physically or technically a defender.

Overall if we're going down the Eze road I think we have to keep Martinelli for now as well, certainly until we have an idea of what's working across a lot of changed options.

This is why I want Eze. He can play LW, he can come on for Rice and he can allow us rest Odegaard (because you know Arteta isn't going to start Nwaneri in big unless he's forced to).

He'd do more than Trossard but I'm not sure he'd do that much defensively. He doesn't for Palace really. Certainly not as much as Odegaard, Merino, even Havertz I think.

That's the ideal scenario from where are right now. Let Trossard go, replace with Eze and see how that goes. Eze would be an amazing addition and his ability to cover all the positions mentioned means he'll play a ton without anyone worrying about things like first XIs.

Trossard never would've done much for Brighton ... if they play for us they press. You could be right though, I reckon Eze probably has 10 kilos on Tross but I might be overrating his pace and aggression.

This, right here. He could cover one of 4 different positions, and do each of them fairly well. I think if a half decent bid comes in for Trossard, we let him go. Gab M is only 24 and can run for days, and could still be very useful in certain situations, not least bringing him in later in a game when its more stretched, and be able to finish teams off, especially if Ode/Eze/whoever can start putting balls behind defenders.

USArsenal that late game stuff is key too. Especially for Ode. Its clear Artetas pushed him too hard and he can't take it any more. Get 60 good minutes out of him and switch to Eze or Nwaneri depending who else needs a rest. Sounds best for everyone.
