I don't believe the story, but if true it would be acutely embarrassing from both Sporting and Gyökeres' agent, who should surely be fired after this shambles (assuming this wouldn't prompt reprisals from the Swedish mob—but then, is anyone afraid of a Swedish mafioso?)

JazzG The expectations in this thread seem to be he'll be among the top scorers in the league so he'll need to be at around 30 PL goals for that.

Again this is ridiculous. Haaland and Isak scored 22 and 23 respectively last season. No one reached 30.

Doc Its absolutely unreasonable. The idea that if he scores 20 league goals its not good enough when everyone was clamouring for Isak who would have cost at least £50m more and who has never come close to 30 for Newcastle is just shifting the goal posts because they don't like the signing.

I mean, it could just be that they have a different opinion than you.

Havertz was tracking for about 15 PL goals before his injury last season. I think if Gyokeres stays fit and finishes the season with 20 then we probably won't win the league and that'll be disappointing.

Doc it's only been 30+ twice in the last 10 years. Anyway the whole idea that he has to be the top scorer in the country or he's flop is crazy. He's costing us £70-80m not £150m.

Don't think this aspect of his game is talked about enough. Statistically he's the most creative striker in Europe. There are no Arsenal players with more asissts than him in the last three years. On top of scoring 39 goals he was 4th for chances created in Primeira Liga last season.

Klaus his willingness to carry the ball and disrupt is very much needed. havertz is such an off-the-ball entity, it burdens his team-mates with more creative demand. having a forward that is productive on and off the ball is needed in every elite team

The deal I most want to happen is the Eze one.

He’s superb. Will improve our football and it’ll be fun going to Selhurst Park and giving the Eagles a taste of their own medicine

lorddulaarsenal The sheer amount of football joy that Eze brings me, man. He's everything the game should be about from an entertainment point of view.

lorddulaarsenal That for me is a bigger signing than a CF, our game has become so robotic and methodical, Saka is double/triple marked out of games and how entire attacking game gets nerfed and we have no real other spark and explosiveness in our side.

Eze in big PL games or big CL games where we've just been a bit lacking and the game is on edge he becomes the difference maker. Last season we drew 14 games, those 14 games if we can convert even half of them into wins the season ends very differently for us.
