It also doesn't hurt that Arteta (at least according to what we've read) has pretty much told the club to get something done in the next two weeks, whoever it's going to be (and that seems likely to be Gyokeres now). I agree with him, we can't be putzing around until the window is almost done to get someone. Last time we did that, we ended up with Sterling.
Now...... If we are really going to go after Rodrygo, and he's even open to coming here, that will take a bit more time. Mandueke and/or Eze would both be significant money if we are truly in for either of them, but Rodrygo would be even more. I just don't see us signing all three of Rodrygo, Eze and Mandueke. I think Eze is the odd man out here.
If we get Rodrygo, that would give us:
Rodrygo/Martinelli
Gyokeres/Havertz (with Jesus in the fold if he ever gets healthy)
Saka/Mandueke (or Nwaneri)
This doesnt even talk about Trossard. A utiliity man across the front line that can cover any of those positions. Or do we sell him?
in the midfield, we would have:
Zubi/Norgaard
Rice/Merino
Odegaard/(Nwaneri/Trossard?)
And at the back, we 'currently' have:
Timber/White
Saliba/White
Gabriel/Kiwior
MLS/Calafiori
Raya/Kepa
That is a lot of money to lay out in one summer. But if this kind of thing comes to fruition, this would (literally) be the best transfer window in Arsenal history.
The only other question is, who is leaving, apart from those who are already gone? Kiwior? Trossard? Zinchenko (hopefully)? Nelson (hopefully)? Vieira (hopefully, or are we going to attempt to use him as an Ode backup?) Im not sure we can bring all the players in that we are looking at and keep all these extra players. It would give us incredible squad depth, but financially, i don't think its possible to do.
