Qwiss The funny thing is if we wanted Madueke, we should have signed him 1.5 years ago when Chelsea signed him for 28m. Not sign him for 50m after he flopped there.

Arteta's penchant for "PL Proven" player is costing the club massively in opportunity costs. Signing Noorgaard over Agoume, Madueke over say the next Madueke in Bakoyoko etc. If you are signing a backup, you can afford to sign a talented player to blood, instead of spending 50m on him. So Madueke won't be coming here as a backup you can be sure of it.

Funny thing is Estevao looked twice the player he is yesterday and he only costs 25m pounds. They are selling Madueke to make space for him and we are funding it, helping their PSR once again to help them sign more talents.

At this stage, we have a better chance signing Sesko if Chelsea signed him first.

I don't like these backup signings but younger players do not offer any greater probability of success. Players like Lokonga, Marquinhos and Vieira didn't do fuck all.

Klaus pretty much. One of our key strategies each summer is asking Chelsea what they want rid of and taking it off their hands. Sometimes they even subsidise the wages to get the deal over the line. They can keep spending the way they do because they know we'll give them money for the ones that don't work out. There's generally a reason they are happy for players to go to a rival.

Madueke strikes me as being an alternative to Eze. Berta simultaneously holding talks with AM and wide players is less clearcut than with Sesko and Gyokeres but I think it's also the approach here

lorddulaarsenal Saka is not going to be playing CF. If anything I could see him moving into the Odegaard role down the line but he’s not a false 9 IMO. I could see Nwaneri there in a pinch and I’ve always wanted to see Martinelli get a decent run there but not Saka.

definitely feels like another biggish sale would need to be made if we were to bring another player in.

And for that money how many of them are coming in as starters that improve team? 1 at best? And even that isn't guaranteed when the 1 hasn't played in the PL before.

I think Noni Madueke is one of Chelsea's best players and trying to get rid of him is the dumbest shit Chelsea have done since the Mudryk thing.

I'm not against signing Madueke as a backup to Saka. It's the fact that we will pay more for him than Chelsea did after he essentially failed to become a key player or do anything material which is what will absolutely grate me.

This is unlike other Chelsea signings where we paid what they were worth or the player had some degree of success for them.

If you're looking for dumb shit that makes no sense, then look at our pursuit for Tesco and Gyoventry. I'm certainly more excited about Madueke than either of those players.

DiabyKungFu yep. Madueke has traits we lack and I feel our set up is perfect for him. Big solid physical defensive platform against which Madueke can be allowed to be a maverick.
