1) spend £70m on Semenyo 2) get Sane on a free and have him as first choice LW 3) buy no one at LW and let Mart and Tross fight it out like last year

If he signs I think Rodrygo will be a huge hit. He's really intelligent around the box and with teams sitting back that's what we need. I just think theirs some magic in the boots more than we've seen already he's only 24 and been out of position for a couple of seasons.

The world club cup thing has thrown a bit of a spanner in the works, he'll probably want to go there before joining any club. Am guessing we'll need some kind of firm agreement if we are going to pass on other signings or make sure we keep 2 or 3 different options open. If those options are at risk of slipping then a decision needs to be made. That is just how it works sometimes, not every transfer is a straight forward transaction.
He's a good player but not sure he is good enough to wait the whole window for.
Rodrygo in particular looks like an opportunistic signing rather than Zubimendi or Sesko who we’ve courted for years so it actually could take a couple of months to close this out.
Also if we can get striker, CM and backup players signed early we are giving ourselves a bit of time to get the right player for LW. But clearly need to be wary that all the good options don’t get snapped up leaving us with nothing.
In an ideal world you get everything wrapped up quickly but selling clubs aren’t stupid, they want to create bidding wars and string things along as far as they can.
