This is an insane bid. How can they possibly think this is a good idea? We are haggling like carnies for everyone else but go straight in with £50m for Madueke who has done nothing to warrant it and we are negotiating with Chelsea who are desperate. This makes no sense at all.

I think we need to get over the fact that the club and management don't see Chelsea as rivals like fans do. But this is more than that, he has by all accounts failed to live up to the hype and has been criticised by two managers for his poor ethic. And we've lodged a bid which is almost double what Chelsea paid for him. Like wtf man.

This might be a day I have to log off just due to the order of our approaches. I'd have no problem with Madueke (although 50m seems far too high) if we already had Eze in the bag but thinking that there might be a possibility that we bring in just Madueke and no Eze or Rodrygo would really take the wind out of my sails this summer.

Hoping that this is just another domino and won't affect our future signings this window.

Well, 50m plus for Madueke is a lot but I think it makes a lot of sense from Chelsea's side to compare with the Elanga fee. Also we need a player with his skillset. Personally I would have preferred a cheaper option like Bakayoko but Madueke is homegrown, has PL experience, and can play on both flanks.
