Gazza M this is what I meant. Players like Vitinha do that kind of thing on a regular basis, freeze opposition with feints and quick feet and dance past them. Partey used to be able to do the drop of shoulder thing, but his feet are made of lead these days and can barely get away from one, talk less of multiple defenders, and Zubimendi is just not that sort of player from what I've seen of him. He can do it to a limited extent, is isn't really a ball carrier like the others, in my opinion.

Yeah I actually agree with @Gazza M here. It's actually why I wasn't fully sure about him but maybe we'll be switching our patterns up with him. As mentioned, he's less of an all round passer than Jorginho, less of a subtle dribbler than Partey, but more of a tackler and ball carrier than either of the two.

It always baffles me how we have the best manager in the world, Odegaard does what Vitihina does and much much more of course. I looked online on different videos and surveys, fan base is happy, the season rating are off the chart, 8 and 9 for every player. Yet we never get to play finals or win anything lol.

In all seriousness, we've signed plenty of players the last few seasons that I didn't rate and was subsequently proven wrong on. Plus it's June 2nd. Let's wait until August to get ourselves worked up!

Bring Back Kerrea Gilbert I'm happy and you know I'm not under 25. The league season was disappointing, but we had a brilliant Champions League campaign, a clear step up from last season.

I found it interesting that awooga (sorry to pick on you) seems to have taken our defeat to PSG as an example of opportunity missed when they are an object example of what happens when you knock on the door enough times. And also have a shit ton of money to spend.

Disappointment at the league season is natural, but it should be taken with the context of how far we've come under Arteta and what we all believe this team could be capable of. If nothing else, Premier League runners up and last 4 in the Champions League with a centre mid up top for 3 months should be ample evidence of Arteta's coaching abilities.

RocktheCasbah ...and none of this is to say we're without our flaws. Definitely things we/Arteta can improve upon.

Progress isn't always linear. That being said, we're within our rights to expect a measure of tangible success next season. I don't think however we need to write things off when the window has barely (prematurely) opened, for all the reasons you've outlined in terms of the progress we have made the last few years.

RocktheCasbah no worries😆 I understand that there is potential but we (and I don't even mean just Arteta'a team) have not been good at following up getting to multiple finals but rather have massively underachieved.

The missed opportunity is just the variables that don't often repeat, an inter side eliminating a Barca but actually not being a very threatening team. Rice stepping up in a big match against Madrid with individual brilliance which changes the tie. These things don't always come at once so while we may fight our way back the path will likely be a lot harder and currently we haven't been able to take those steps when it's difficult. I also don't think we are going to be like a Madrid or PSG regularly in these positions,I think we gave a limited window tied to a player like Saka to make the most of our time in the sun and there may only be another 3 or 4 goes to win it.

We have the potential to change that but so far we haven't shown with this team we can make that step so I don't have confidence it will happen.

don't be obtuse, you said Ode would've passed it back to recycle possession and Vitinha did exactly that in the vid. What happens later does not change that fact.

The only real difference in the play v Odegaard here is that he would've found that forward pass sooner and made it from the halfway line.
