We need to talk about Myles Lewis-Skelly. He’s consistently putting in good performances. His teammates pass him the ball in tough situations, he takes care of it. He’s also doing that Partey thing of attracting defenders and beating them with a dribble and a run. Incredible composure.

I keep looking at him and wondering if he’s a future Partey or best at LB or L8. I love that he has optionality and looking forward to seeing more of him.

Claudius I keep looking at him and wondering if he’s a future Partey or best at LB or L8.

Given the composition of the team, I think he's going to need to be a leftback. Tierney is obviously gone. Zinchenko's contract is running down and it seems like we're not renewing it. It looks like we're probably pushing him out the door. Tomiyasu has entered the Abou Diaby Zone. I was already surprised that we didn't sell Kiwior this past summer. We're looking at a situation where we're likely going to go from a glut of leftbacks to suddenly having a dearth of leftbacks. I'm not sure how much the general discourse has caught on to this yet. I think we kinda need Lewis-Skelly to be a real option there for the sake of our squad building.

Incredible how at place he already seems at PL level.

naz I see him there in the future. Imagine 3 years time having a MLS, Ode and Nwaneri midfield.

He's so composed on the ball, distributes well, I thought he was excellent tonight. I get a bit over excited about it kids, but I think we've got one here.

Where’s he played in the youth teams?

Has he shown any significant attacking capabilities?

he's so composed and his passing is so crisp. he's stumpy in a good way as well. not easy to knock off the ball

Always like the look of this kid from the first time I saw him. Think that was when this one video of a Duberry goal was getting hyped and watching the video I couldn't help but be impressed by MLS's play prior to the goal.

      Edit: Found it

Big Willie nice from Myles Lewis on that run and pass to set up Cozier as well. Might be another one to keep an eye on.

Good to see him continue to develop and staking a place for game time despite the millions of fullbacks we have, albeit at a time when all but 1 of them are injured 😆

That's what I meant by age does not matter. This guy looks like he has played in PL for ages, same as Nwaneri. You can see their quality shine through immediately.

And his passing is always with purpose, doesnt take unnecessary touches like Zinchenko and is defensively switched on.

      We have a star

Seems to have a smart footballing brain on him too, that one passage of play where he sucked in 2/3 palace players and then passed it forward between them to set up an attack, very impressive.

We should give him a few chances at left 8 to see what he can do from there.

Really pleased for him and Nwaneri holding down their places in the squad this season. Happy with Arteta for making space for Nwaneri and using MLS.

We don't have anyone else coming through from the academy for a while now so would be nice to see them both really push on and become part of the first team.

Clrnc age matters. These kids are still building up their strength and stamina. That’s why they’re not doing consistent 90s. But their quality is impressive.

The way Nwaneri and Skelly have emerged with such tremendous poise is a testament to the way we're now preparing these kids. I guess we are doing something right. Makes me wonder if the reticence to "blood" those who aren't quite ready, as with the PSV dead rubber in the CL last year, is fair enough.

It's also something to reflect on next to the debate about Smith Rowe, Nketiah and Nelson being sold last summer. Seems to me we usually benefit when our "question mark" players are moved on.

Kids usually always play with more confidence and fearlessness. The problems with bravery on the ball usually come later down the line.

I think there is an intelligence about the way both Ethan and MLS play though that gives you a lot of hope about their ceiling.
