Qwiss I don't think Arteta would be giving him this responsibility now if that was the plan.
Arteta does not like losing players. Even the ones he chooses not to play. He wants his army, whether or not the reserves ever get called up for duty.
He will tell you all these beautiful things about patience, hard work, non negotiables and whatnot but keep you frozen out whilst simultaneouslybeing unwilling to sanction a loan or sale.
Right near the end of the season he will give you a couple token games here and there to convince you he has belief in you for next season so that you stay and maybe even sign a new contract.
Arteta does not lose players he wants. Ever.
