There is often very little value to be found in January. If we didn’t already have Sterling, we’d probably be hitting Chelsea up on the phone about him now, and we’d be ready to pay the whole salary. And many of us here would be all for it.
Im on board with doing what we can to improve our scoring chances. But I'm not necessarily sure it comes via new player(s), especially considering the sort of player likely to be available in January. (not a starter for their own club, for the most part). It would be a desperate and reactionary move that guarantees us nothing but an increased wage bill.
Edit: now if your feeling is that our form is so poor that champions league placement is under threat, for sure, go for it, that’s worthy of a bit of panic and forced market action. But if this x signing is going to be brought in in an attempt to gain us the league? Forget about it. Highly unlikely
