Or it introduces two new misconceptions:

  • using your subs is the same as using your squad
  • defence and attack are tactically opposed

Absolutely delighted with this performance - I’ve not seen another team in England play to this level this season.

Also feels like we have more to give and have opportunities to improve.

Arteta is mad good. Best coach in Europe

MistaT it was bloody brilliant 😁 very nice stadium and the crowd were noisy when they got going but to be fair we pretty much had them on the back foot from the get go and they were pretty quiet. Team was excellent I thought probably one of the best Arsenal displays I can remember in any match for a while and a long time in Europe.

All our players were on form and great displays from Raya, Saliba, Gabriel , ode and Saka all outstanding. We looked far superior for the majority apart from a little wobble when they got their goal Very lucky to witness that kind of result in person and was buzzing for the rest is the night.

Hopefully we can keep the momentum and positivity going need to take this kind of performance into the league.

Qwiss

I think we are overestimating how good Liverpool are and how bad City are. The former have been struggling to wins including against bottom placed Southampton. The latter have been creating chances but leaking goals. I think it'll be tight but if I had to back one it'd be City.

goon yeah and TBH I'd worry a bit if City won. A draw would be more pain for City and allow us gain on Liverpool if we can win (if we dont win we can just forget about that match anyway because it wont concern us).

goon spot on. Liverpool aren’t moving like a title contender despite what their results suggest. At this point, I’d sooner back the cheats

Some great money to be won for the people who have realized that Liverpool are unlikely to win the league. You could even bet on both City and Arsenal and win either way.

Claudius I think at the end of the day Timber will own the right back spot. Ben's not a bad player, but there's levels to this. Calafiori is also still a bit sus, but there's something to work with there. His instincts for progressing the ball are on point, even if he'll struggle for pace a lot of the time and overrun his dribble a few times, he is still a safer option than Zinchenko, and gives us physical attributes the Ukrainian lacks - I see him as hybrid of Zinchenko and Tomiyasu (hopefully sans the injury issues both are plagued with).

A killer left winger to improve the quality on that end and reduce our reliance on the Ode-Buka-Timber axis of our attack must be the next priority in my opinion. Strikers out there aren't exactly blowing my mind, and the bulk of our attack comes through the wings not centrally anyway.

P.S. I hear you, it's a squad game these days and our floor is definitely been elevated with the personnel brought in in the immediate past window. Just need to finish up that foundation and start raising the roof now. Next couple of signings can / will cement us firmly in elite team status if the right choices are made. This is a team with scary potential.

Qwiss Easiest money possible is talk some Liverpool fan into an even bet on them winning the league, then back Liverpool at the bookies.

Not a gambler and haven't bet outside of bets with friends so not sure how much you stand to win on something like this when you involve a bookie. If Liverpool win, wouldn't you lose money because of the low odds the bookies would give you compared to losing a straight bet with a fan that they won't win it?

Didn't watch the match but great to see us pick up such a comfortable away win.

How was Gyokeres? Does everyone still want him? 😉

flobaba -- I think Timber has clearly shown the "levels" by over performing in areas that aren't White's strengths. In particular, we see in Timber a player more comfortable attacking and in defending faster/trickier wingers.

Now the question for Arteta and Timber, and Saka, is can they get the balance right so that a more attacking fullback doesn't jeopardize Saka's role in the team. I've had plenty of time and love for White as he - much like Sagna - has afforded the winger ahead of him some extra freedom in attacking/positioning/defending.

JazzG How was Gyokeres? Does everyone still want him?

I think everyone remains largely unchanged - those that wanted him still do. Those that didn't still don't.

Don Pacifico I didn't really know him before but I liked what I saw, and I think he would be good. Question is the opportunity cost - if it's this or a Nico Williams type on the left i think I'd prefer the latter, but Gyokeres would improve us I'm sure

FEBravo Question is the opportunity cost - if it's this or a Nico Williams type on the left i think I'd prefer the latter, but Gyokeres would improve us I'm sure

For me, probably not surprisingly to anyone here, I'd rather have Goku than Williams. This guy looks phenomenonally strong and fast and has a great shot on him, and can both bulldoze his way through teams. He's kind of like a super charged, goal hungry Havertz.

Williams looks smooth on the ball but isn't even an end product machine. I'm not sure he'd be as big an upgrade on our team as would having a top class forward.

Big Willie Watched the Basque derby on sunday, Williams was ineffective once again. Easily marked out.

If its not Kvarat then we need to go big for a prolific striker.

Id take Gyok but he doesn’t excite me. Looks like a poor mans Haaland, and unfortunately for him I strongly dislike Haaland as a player.

Havertz is better than Gyokeres so I wouldnt want him dropped in place of him

Get that bastardly good left winger/forward sorted
