Mirth yeah. I think he scored 8 in 20 starts last year. Put that way, even on a top team like Bayern, and that’s exciting. It lines up with Sesko at a similar age.

Fair point from his point of view and at least shows he is considering carefully where he goes. At Chelsea they have Neto, Sancho Madueke and to a lesser extent Palmer, Nkunku and Felix as well. What is the point from his point to go on Bayern's bench potentially to Chelsea's? He clearly needs minutes and at Arsenal he'll get plenty of those. Even when Saka is back lets be honest Martinelli's spot needs to be under more pressure than it currently is.

JazzG spurs could rival us for playing time but at Utd there’s too much competition also

Sicario2 - Tier 1 Those two clubs are a shambles so would probably be better for him to stay at Bayern or go to another club in Germany/Spain than there.

Sounds we are very keen but want some kind of option or permanent deal which Bayern are resisting, as the window goes on hopefully their stance will change.

I really like the look of Tel. He's tall, quick, has good technique and can strike a ball well. He's definitely nowhere near the finished article clearly at 19 so I do think that we should be very careful in how he's viewed in the short term (if we were to get him). But I'd much rather give minutes to someone like him than Sterling and I do think that he's capable of contributing right away - just nowhere near the impact of someone like Cunha or Mbeumo. I also like his versatility in that he could potentially give some minutes at CF due to his size and skillset, as well as offer a different profile than someone like Havertz or Sesko. It may just be due to his size and style but he does remind me a bit of Leao before he really kicked on - a tall inside winger with dribbling skills, pace and some power.

It would be great if we could get an option to buy permanently because I think his value is only going to go up and he'd be a great option to have next year. But even if it's just a straight loan, we need bodies and I'd rather roll the dice with him than Sterling personally.

        @"JazzG"#

Paul O Keefe is very reliable re Spurs but not sure of his Utd links

United is lord of the fucking flies.

Sicario2 - Tier 1 Why would he not just go to Chelsea then you'd think? Who knows, like you say that guy is reliable for Spurs but dunno about Man Utd.

For some reason I thought Tel was around 21/22 years old, didn't realise he is still 19.

Looks like he is keeping options open and wants to actually play.

JazzG Tet should show him a picture of Sterling

That one has come out of the blue? I don't know how reliable this guy is for transfer news but he is pretty reliable for youth players and for Chelsea.

Major departure from our usual profile of player. Calling bullshit

Secret Scout knows about as much as you or me. Also £60m for a 29 year old tier 2 striker. Wow

Is secret scout Lord Dula’s burner account by any chance? 🤣

Claudius Thing about him is he rarely talks about transfers. Good for info on youth players so he is well connected in the sport.

I'm not entirely sure about this as well, I like Watkins but the age and fee does seem a bit high.

Ok maybe this is legit then!

This makes the Aston Villa talk more serious
                BOMBAAAAA

Sign Watkins for 3 good seasons with higher chance of us winning something soon or sign Duran/Tel/Sesko for 10 good seasons….

If it is the former then it means the board think we can win something THIS season.

Sicario2 - Tier 1 Watkins is better than all those guys right now.
If you said Isak, that’s a different story. But he’s probably a looooong shot

He’s caused us loads of issues when we have played them. Probably driving the interest

We are a weird club. Why the hell didn't we just pay up years ago?! 60m went way further back then, and we did nothing.

Coombs could just be new strategy with Edu gone.

£60m for Watkins means we are unlikely to get a better striker in the summer. This is a no for me. I'd rather we go for Tel who isn't as good as Watkins currently but has the potential to be an elite forward which Watkins will never be

Strange one & I don't see it happening. Unai always wants 2 quality strikers in his team. Duran is leaving and they got Malen. No way they let Watking go in january, make that end of january, why would they ? He gets them double digits goals and assists every season, huge player for them

He is a big Arsenal fan by the way

No Thanks.. Especially for 60m. Option this window are dogshit, just wait until the summer..

Tactics the club may think (like me) that the window to win a title is limited.

Will Tel be better than Watkins next year? Doubtful.

Utd signed a 29 year old RVP as we all know and won the title.

We signed a 28 year old Auba who nearly won us Europa League and led us to FA cup glory within 18 months/2 years.

Maybe Artera’s knows he won’t have a 5 year window after this and it’s now the time to strike.

Would Watkins be cup tied for UCL with us if Villa fails to advance to the knockouts?

Tactics was just about to say the same thing.

Decent striker but this signing prevents us from getting a truly top tier talent to fill that position. Nah.

I'm fine with Watkins, it's not willy shaking but I'd feel a little something in my pants.

He's a clear upgrade on Jesus, and as good as the strikers I've wondered about (Mbuemo) or not wanted (Vlahovic). He is also a clear tier (or two!) above Sesko, who may never pan out and become the player that Watkins is.

Also strikes me as a player that could do a job on our wings when needed. Arteta likes his flexibility so that may be appealing to him.

Sicario2 - Tier 1 Utd signed a 29 year old RVP as we all know and won the title.

Watkins is nowhere near the level RVP was then (arguably the best CF in the world). Even by today's standards, £60m would not be good value.

Sicario2 - Tier 1 I think this is the right logic but it definitely makes me nervous. Would signing Watkins now for 70m preclude us from going for a Sesko in the summer too? One would think so but maybe Watkins would be more amenable to sharing time with a younger forward. And would it stop us from going big for another attacker this summer like Barcola? I’d imagine the powers that be have taken this into account and given our headroom with PSR feel like we can take a calculated risk to capitalize on a title opportunity this year but I just hope we don’t sacrifice long term potential along with it.

Such a random move they'll never sell him to us. He is a proper Gooner as well 🥹

samthegooner -- sounds like he could play

Clubs are "allowed to register a maximum of three new eligible players during the winter. Since 2018/19, it no longer matters whether those players have already played in the competition for another club, even for another club still in the competition.

samthegooner -- there's no way we can carry or pay Havertz, Watkins, and Sesko, and especially so if Jesus remains on the books.

If we're signing Watkins it means Sesko isn't signing - for whatever reason (cost, not interested, Arteta not sold, etc.)

No transfer window can go by without us buying a keeper

A few weeks back - after our draw vs Fulham - I mentioned wanting a livewire for a January signing, and I still stand by it. In my opinion Watkins is capable of accomplishing this.

We are in desperate need of an Arshavin-eque signing in January. Someone who can come in without being shackled by (Arteta's) instructions and create on their own. I don't want a young player who will provide too many concessions to our approach, I want a livewire like Sanchez.
