Clrnc yep totally, was so weak Saka or martinelli out on the wing isolated trying to put crosses in or win set pieces but not able to beat players and the rest of the team so slow with passing just very easy to deal with.

Wish we had another nimble player in the midfield who can turn on a six pence, throw feints and pass through the lines. Canhaloglu was excellent in that regard

We have territory. But we aren’t compact and don’t rotate. We did this very well in the second half of last season. Now we look like a half court offense standing off while Kobe Bryant has the ball. Very static. We need to inject movement. And centrality. So there were a lot of good elements yesterday but we need a bit more to be scary.

Anyone notice the change in Saka’s body language when Ode came on? He suddenly had a spring in his step and was really taking the fullback on.

Ode being back is absolutely massive. Even when he came on for 2 mins you could see the quality and the difference in urgency.

Sicario2 - Tier 1 It's a very big deal. That's one of the best creators with an all round game in all of world football we've been missing. His fitness won't solve every problem but it's a huge factor, so much so we really should treat him with great care till we're sure that ankle is solid.

It's largely his own doing, but we really should be considering playing Zinchenko back into some form/confidence while Calafiori is out. On form, he offers so much through his progressive passing. In 22/23, the Zinchenko-Partey pivot was fundamental to our football.

daredevil dropping Zinchenko happened way before the start of this season. He's rubbish and Arteta knows it. He's never been able to defend and people underplay how much of a liability he is in possession. Serious Mustafi vibes.

Just as last season, the table isn't decided by the level you reach at the end but by the highest average level. To start badly as a strategy would be ridiculous, and it's not what's happening.

It's a good thing no one said that then. It's not about starting the season badly, as a strategy, for god's sake (what an absurd statement). It's about slowly ramping up intensity over the course of the season so you peak later in the season and not too early. As long as we're within touching distance at Christmas, we will have an opportunity to increase the intensity of our pressing and field tilts and start gaining some momentum towards a strong finish.
