The Fulham non peno is only similar to the Newcastle one in one way, but quite different otherwise.
The problems with the Newcastle one are manifold:
- The ball would've remained under Gyoks control as no other Toon player was near. Instead the ball falls under Sakavs control.
- ref blew too early and denied Saka a goalscoring opportunity.
- having decided it was not a peno, inexplicably the restart is not a drop ball.
With the Fulham one, the ball is taken away from Saka to ESR. It's not even a "slight" touch the way Pope's was. You could argue the player takes Saka out first, I saw them happening simultaneously.
Of course in both cases it's questionable if there's a "clear and obvious error".
