I do feel for Arteta. The injuries and red cards have created imperfect circumstances for blooding a 17 year old. We’ve ended up in so many game states where we are fighting for our lives instead of comfortably up 2-0. So it has been ideal for bringing him in.
History shows that Arteta is very careful with young players. Saliba, Martinelli, and Saka are thriving now, but he didn’t thrust them all in. In all instances, fans were frustrated the guys weren’t playing enough as kids.

There's no perfect circumstances. Barca in one of their worst seasons also threw Cubarsi, Yamal etc in and blooded all their young players.

Clrnc it really isn’t backward thinking. Barca also nearly overplayed Fati, Gavi and Pedri - all suffered from overuse. 3 years ago these 3 were supposed to be the backbone of the team. Fati is fucked. The other two are only now slowly coming back.

I would rather handle kids with care.

Claudius well there is a difference from overplaying Nwaneri and giving him 3 games this month until Odegaard is fit lol. And against shit teams. Anyway, his call to start the midfield cost us 3 points last weekend, it is what it is, maybe he will learn.

Claudius we are not asking them to play 50 games. We are saying if you are good enough you are old enough. 1 or 2 starts every now and then wont even add up to 15 games.

Except, that's just not how it works. Those 3 starts, very quickly turn into 50 starts and a stress fracture, especially if he's really special like he looks.

Foden is a good blueprint of how to introduce a player into the team. It was slow and steady ramping up.

Nwaneri has his entire career ahead of him. There really shouldn't be any urgency to start him at this age.

I'm really pessimistic about today. This season has already been way too emotional, from the red cards and the last minute draw to City, to the injuries that are beginning to plague us. Have a feeling Liverpool are going to put a nail in our coffin.

I feel similar in the sense of they are in a bit of an up and we are not quite at that given the matches so far. I have the sense that this looks a little like one of those seasons that go off the rails, we've done really well the last 2 with pretty good luck with injuries and that looks to be different this season.
