arteta's mindset is just completely wrong.
against a team like bournemouth, or any non-elite team, the goal should be to play on the front foot to start the game and try to put them in a really bad spot. giving shit teams confidence by playing passive football for 60 minutes only makes them feel like they can get something from the game and they arent going to drop their heads or let their level dip. if we had gone up 2-0 inside 30 minutes today, we could have played the most boring, dour football and just killed the game off, which is the stuff arteta dreams of. instead, we play passive, make a blunder, and end up donking away 3 points.
if we were playing real madrid or city or some other elite team, you could see the rationale for setting up defensively and trying to control the pace of play and keep the game tight. against fucking bournemouth? its just dumb.
