USArsenal City beat Fulham 3-2.

Apparently should have lost. Out "xG"ed by Fulham 2.4 to 1.55. This will continue happening to them without Rodri and hopefully costs them.

Need to make sure we don't fuck about with our games and do silly shit like that Jesus/Havertz experiment that has proven ineffective time and again.

Big Willie Havertz has never looked good for us in midfield and on the other side has a large percent of the time been excellent upfront. Need to pack in doing it.

Leo didn’t do too well with a couple of those at the end either. But yeah, in all around play Jesus is really lacking to add anything.

Sterling did ok but looks old when you compare him to Martinelli.

I think we made 1 change too many in hindsight, especially with some many players missing anyway.

Kai has been playing in midfield ever since Ode has been out. His role didn’t change when Trossard came on.

It’s Jesus that’s the problem, he’s too chaotic to build a relationship with. Kai and Leo on the other hand compliment each other perfectly.

We keep conceding silly goals and have given away 6 already this season, 5 in our last 3 games.

daredevil Yeah 1 clean sheet from 4 at home needs to become 3 from 4 really. Away from home we seem to be better at keeping clean sheets (2 from 3) but it was the same last season.

Need to see him start a game, hard to judge in the game states he’s come on. But it’s pretty clear he is indeed a duel monster.

Jesus looks completely off the pace and completely devoid of confidence. He's been awful since returning from injury, but it's not like we haven't seen it with other players.

Martinelli has only started producing in the past week after almost 6 months. Partey likewise has only just started to look sharp after half a year.

Jesus has been replaced by Havertz so he won't get the chance to play himself back into form/fitness and will most likely get injured before then anyway. It's hard to see a way back for him at this point.

Watched the game on delay- we need to start putting these games away in the first half. We can pull this off against relegation fodder but it won’t work as easily with teams in the top half the table. Saka, havertz amazing. Thought we could have benefited from Nwaneri when we were chasing the goal. Midfield lacked creativity, especially in the first half.

Sicario2 - Tier 1

Two wake up calls two weekends in a row.

In hindsight Arteta also made too many changes, think he disrespected Southampton a bit.

Overall good win but bit concerning that we have made our two easiest games (on paper) of the season more complicated than it should have been.

Sicario2 - Tier 1 Arteta is trying to play Sterling and Jesus into form. I don't think you can blame him for doing that, we can't rely on Saka, Havertz, and Trossard all season, and this was one of our easiest games on paper.

I think there was some clear mental exhaustion as well. We've played seven matches in the past 21 days. It has been a challenging start to the season – three of our four toughest away fixtures in the PL, two of our three hardest 'league stage' CL fixtures, a good amount of injuries, the two red cards and all the media controversy around the City game... it's been a lot. I hope our boys can get some rest.

A few let offs today but overall we were far superior to Southampton, they were lucky to get a goal ahead but once they did we stepped up a gear. Giving a bit too much away defensively, needs a bit of tightening up.

We have to rotate and have to get fringe players up to scratch fitness and confidence wise. Last season we were blowing out of arse in the Bayern game, we can't let that happen again.

I think he will vary things more given how brutal the schedule is.
Weirdly, internationals are helpful in that players like White, Sterling, Jesus etc can stay home and rest / train with Mikel

Haven’t read through the thread but some thoughts from attending live:

Jesus was horrible. Holding on too long to the ball. Once he had Saka completely unmarked and the whole stadium was screaming at him. He’s half the player he was and completely shot of confidence.
Sterling wasn’t great either. Would run with his head down, and I believe he lost the ball which led to their goal. The difference with Trossard and Marti was obvious..
Calafiori is unbelievable. Silky smooth but great football brain too. His lack of pace is obvious, got burned bad once, but usually smart and strong enough to compensate most times.
Saka. Nuff said. Even more impressive in person how every decision is correct, let alone the execution.
Harvetz is a monster. Pops up everywhere always in a smart position.
Rice does everything right, even when having an “average game » by his standards.
liked what I saw of a merino. Smart and super strong too.
did I mention Saka?

And given our injuries, i think we started a team easily capable of beating Soton, and we did. Now, i know it took some subs to put it away, but we did it while controlling the vast majority of the game. One freak goal, and we replied instantly.

I think rotation is fine but it was too much today, 2 players who just didn't really have any attacking threat we went totally to Saka and it was manageable for them. 2 games where after the tough fixtures I was hoping we'd see the attacking quality from the get go but I don't think she e really seen that which to me is a bit of a worry and these games have been far too marginal until to late in the fixture. We are getting the wins which is important but little worried about better sides as Southampton and Leicester will be the easier fixtures you can have.
