It's no good being on a yellow but that can hardly justify a blatantly cooked decision leading to a red.

Burnwinter I think the ref dealt with it poorly but the outcome is in the realm of possible outcomes even if in the extreme edge side of it. It's a rare one but you do get refs make those poor decisions and you have to leave yourself in a position to account for that outcome however unlikely. Particularly as you could see the type of ref we were dealing with from early on card happy so you have to adapt to that in your calculations once you get a booking.

imagine the standard of the premier league if you only pulled from a small group of players from a particular region of the country. most of us wouldn't even be posting about arsenal because we would have never got interested in the first place.

Mikel and the club are very proactive against the Premier League and referees and have received public criticism for it.

i don't want arsenal owning referees, that's just cheating and what would be the point of competition. if i believed that citeh owned officials and they were cheating for them i wouldn't waste my time watching the league. the bias is a northern one. if only people who were from the same regions of the country as premier league referees were allowed to vote the uk prime minister would be farage.

The thing that pisses me off is the ref gets away with this, nothing happens. If Arteta loses the plot in the press conference he gets a fine and gets banned. We have no right of appeal and basically have to keep quiet about this. It is a fucking joke, seen on Twitter even today players were doing the same and nothing happened.

JazzG the pundits on Norwegian TV counted the times someone did the same thing in the United-Liverpool match. 8 times, no cards.

JazzG there is very clear direction on this with Sky, TNT and the BBC. The match coverage in real time had the commentators saying it should be a card for Veltman, maybe a red. Then they were shocked by the card for Rice but quickly backtracked to say the ref was right. It happens all the time now that they expect one thing, the opposite happens and they still defend it.

Qwiss I think this is why a lot of people have distrust with the media, people aren't stupid and can see with their own eyes what happened and then you get so called experts trying to tell you it was the right decision.

Yep, the media went in hard on the refs last season after the Liverpool-Spurs game and PGMOL threatened the Premier League who then threatened the broadcasters.

Everyone I have spoken to at work about the Rice red card have said it was absolutely an shambolic bit of refereeing. Even the Newcastle fan that (weirdly) despises Arsenal said it was an absolute joke. For context, this guy won't admit that there was anything dodgy in THAT goal Newcastle scored against us last season.
