This is what sterling has been like for at least the last 2 seasons, having seen him a few times playing for Chelsea it's been obvious he was done. I really didn't get the move for him. With me being able to see that and I'm not watching this stuff full time I would assume the scouts and club would have been able to see that he wasn't the type of player we would need. Just a very odd move.

Sicario2 I mean some of the way he plays in this isn't really that different to now, runs around with no idea lots of chaos. Plus he started okay for Chelsea in the first few games but he was nowhere near consistent and there were many terrible performances.The idea that he was better last year is an illusion. That's why he got frozen out.

Agreed, he looks finished physically but sometimes when a player is low on confidence they can look like that. We need something out of him.

That video @Sicario2 posted from last season is crazy though. He's actually bursting past defenders. Right now he looks terrified to take anyone on, like he doesn't believe he can do it. Everything about his game makes it seem like he knows he's lost some pace and its totally shattered his confidence. His runs in behind were brilliant at his peak too but now he's always offside, seems to me thats coming from the same issue.

Don Pacifico it’s true. This is elite sports and you need to be in elite condition. It’s unprofessional otherwise. Guy is getting paid by two different clubs and has zero pride.

Don Pacifico Come on now, players get called alot worse on here during matches. He's turned in one of the worst performances I've genuinely ever seen and he's overweight. So really this is about the word bastard?

Lukazan sure but I don't think that excuses it. I guess I'm reacting to what I perceive to be an increased level of abuse towards our players this season as a fanbase and I don't think it's a healthy dynamic. We know we're a good side and we're all desperate to win the league but when a player isn't at the level we want, we're happy to call them every name under the sun. Criticism of players is fine and understandable but when it strays into abuse it becomes counter-productive.

And yes, I'm pretty sure none of the players read OMITT but the attitude permeates other parts of the digital and physical world that the players are aware of.

Don Pacifico Fair enough mate, I hear you. I'm not massive on insulting players, outside the heat of the moment and frustration during matches, but the problem with Sterling and why I find it so easy to throw an insult his way is that I don't see him as one of us to be honest. Was a shit transfer and genuinely, I have forgotten numerous times over the course of the season so far that we even have him - the most recent example as just the other day when I found out the Havertz news. I was talking to a mate, complaining about the fact we literally have only one senior attacker now, Trossard, and Sterling never entered my mind. Apparently he didn't for my mate either because he didn't correct me. I saw him in the starting line-up on Saturday and was like 'Oh, ... yeah...'

That video Sicario posted is a case in point of my original comment anyway. There's clearly a confidence issue but there is also blubber issue too.

That is the hope I am holding onto as well, can someone drop off that much within a year? It is possible but I think/hope a lot of is down to his confidence being on the floor. You look at teams looking dead and buried in a match, their passes aren't crisp and they look leggy. Get back into the game and suddenly everyone has that extra zip in their step.

Our fans are getting on his back, yes he is very frustrating but unless we get something out of him I don't think we can win the title. The club internally will be giving him lots of support.

Losing confidence and getting the yips can do remarkable things to the performance of athletes. See Havertz. Hopefully we can still get something to out of Sterling.
