Clrnc Another Gyokeres hattrick. This time against City

How has his general performance been? Just seen two of the goals were penalties.

Whenever I've seen him he looks a great transition player but we mostly play against deep blocks so I have my reservations. But you can't argue with the kind of numbers he is putting up.

JazzG -- he's got some decent hold up play and can help break presses, and he has an ability to create for himself 1v1 situations. I think he's far from a 1 trick pony.

I haven't seen many headers or real delicate play around a crowded 18 yard box though.

Frimpong for example was isolated multiple times and never went at Tsmikoris.
Wirtz looked very unathletic, and unable to gain separation.
Boniface is trying to do too much...was a black hole when he went wide.

Should have played a "sharper" 4-3-3 or 3-4-3 with Boniface central to occupy Liverpool's CBs. Wirtz in the channel trying to have a go at TAA would then have worked.

Watched highlights of the City match and their players looked helpless and bewildered that the referee was blowing the whistle at the classical and cynical Guardiola fouling.

No English ref would ever have awarded those two penalties even though they were easy decisions to make.

The first one I think would but the second I agree entirely, a ref is never ever going to give that in the PL against City, or for us. Saka gets pulled like that in the box nearly every game.

Having said that, this ref also gave City a penalty for an absolute BS handball, yet refused one for Sporting in the first half for the same thing.
