Burnwinter the one against Spurs was a big one but I can't say I remember defensive errors being a regular thing for Jorginho.

That's not to diminish Merino's upturn in form of late but I get what Sicario means in that he was probably more reliable, more quickly.

"Such a poor finish" is such a poor take. Makes all the right decisions in not taking a second touch, going for the bend, etc. Just a bit wide.

Given how good this guy is in front of goal and has a clear goal scorers instinct how did he end up a midfielder? His Dad was a striker as well so strange he wasn’t pushed to be one as well at a young age as it’s clearly his best position.

What does this mean for next season, should play ahead of VG/Havertz imo.

We played our best football last season when Merino was the striker.

Not really true. We did for a game against Spurs but the reverse tie was just as good with him there. Same spell included a stinker against Sunderland. He's great to have as an option but he's clear 3rd choice. He does remove the need to replace Jesus though.

His general play as CF isn't great but his movement and finishing is elite. I don't think he starts as CF next season, some players are just mean to be impact players and good rotation options and my gut feeling is that is his best role in the squad.

JazzG I think you may have forgotten Spurs and Bayern at home last season. I was at both games and he was immense man.

Sicario2 I'm not going to lie but I can't specifically remember his performance in both those games but in both those games as a team we were really on it.

Merino will not carry bad teams, but he is perfect for good teams that can keep some intelligent and purposeful possession. Goal threat, physically strong, great movement off the ball and excellent close control. He should play a lot more next season.

Kel Varnsen all good reasons, in addition to being far more clinical, he may be a better alternative option against the teams expected to sit deepest against us and give up fewest clear chances.

Gyokeres doesn’t have the movement and hasn’t been reliably able to create himself the space to fashion chances against many teams. Havertz has some of the movement and touch, but is not as reliable in his finishing.
