Ice runs through his veins, gets himself into great positions and technically such a clean player. His finish yesterday a lot of top strikers would be proud of that.

Saw some stat he has 25 G/A this year for club and country, insane stats.

Sicario2 very true. I was thinking about what if we'd signed Watkins the other day and the big difference is I think he'd have changed our shape the way Gyokeres has. However I don't think he works as hard as Gyokeres or be as physical.

I get the confusion about Merino (what is his position etc.) but I think you have to credit Arteta's coaching for seeing he could be a makeshift CF.

I think his ability to extract incremental value of players often goes unsaid. Xhaka, Nketiah and Merino (amongst others) have all done things most of us would never have expected.

banduan his performance yesterday was impressive. At the start of the year he was a crude option upfront because of his size and uncanny ability to get on the end of chances. Yesterday, even though he didn’t score, he played a much better game overall and more importantly allowed everyone else to play their natural game.

Mirth him and Eze played a very clever game yesterday, I'm sure with Artetas instruction. Frank thought we'd pump crosses at Mikel and set up to counter that. Instead we played through the middle with Saka and Trossard breaking the lines and Eze running beyond Mikel and it worked an absolute treat.

USArsenal as I say above the tactical tweak worked superbly well. We played a different game because of who was available and how Spurs set up. I don't think that says much about Gyokeres generally. Ezes been getting chances like this with Gyokeres in the team too as he pushes defences back and it creates that gap behind him. Just different variation today. The real upside is that we can hurt teams in different ways and its very hard to set up to stop us.

I was listening to Thierry talk about the game and about Merino & Eze, and he brought up an interesting point. He said Eze was able to get into the positions that he did so he could score specifically because Merino was not playing as a true 9, and was out of Eze's way. I wonder if Gyokeres would have gotten in Eze's way more during that game because they would both be occupying the box area. I think that is partially true, but not in every instance.

Yeah I’m not seeing Gyokeres as a “blocker” to Eze, nor the positions he found yesterday. Gyokeres seems to find his way into the channels more than getting positioned top of the 18.

As a better example, Van Persie would have blocked those spaces/opportunities from Eze.

Actually, he played a lot like Havertz. Dropping wide right in the build-up leaving Eze taking up the hole.

Got to give this guy credit, in 7 days plays 3 games, no complaints, plays all 90, always available (touch wood). Never puts his head down, works hard for the team, scores big game goals (Newcastle away, Chelsea away). Great player to have in and around the squad.

I would rest him v Brentford though.

Sicario2 also does what big players do and even when not at his best makes an impact.
