Claudius The whole point of a control room is there is a group of folks who can quickly review every angle and advice the referee quickly as needed. If it’s not needed, the game continues.
I understand that part, but the speed and agility of the system is a pure technical issue. The accountability aspects are the big problem with the credibility of the current system, starting with discretionary decisions for which the "clear and obvious error" criterion is supposed to be applied by the VAR.
Let refs decide for themselves when they've made an error and there's no longer any debate about accountability, so there's no grey areas about colleagues ruffling each other's feathers or affecting each other's reputations, and no more vagaries about what "clear and obvious" means, etc.
