As you can tell I got a massive pet hate for injury prone players as they give the impression our squad is better than it is. But availability is huge if you want really claim you have a deep squad not just numbers.

Sicario2 the frustration is the was reluctance to sign him from the board due to injury issues but Arteta pushed for it. It's looking like an awful decision to give his way on this.

I dont think its anything serious with Cala.. A small tweak in a pretty physical pre-season game. He'll be OK im sure. I just hope his little '2 weeks here and there' niggles don't continue throughout the whole year. He needs a run in the team to get up to speed.

Paying over £40m for a guy who tore every ligament in his knee is honestly negligent and stupid.

Tendons from Calafiori's hamstrings and/or quadriceps would've been harvested to reconstruct ligaments in his knees.

It's a worse injury for a footballer than Ramsey's leg break because other parts of the leg are partially weakened to fix the busted knee. I enjoy watching Calafiori, but he ain't going to be playing more than 20 games a season in the PL.

Yeah. Can understand why Mikel gambled on Cala. He's just extremely talented.

I think he’s fantastic and has various skills that MLS doesn’t have at this point, but I have a hard time believing he can stay fit for more than 20 games a season.

Gurgen that's it for me. As much as I like MLS, I think Cala takes the LB if he could stay fit for an extended period.

Yeah he looked better in that half than MLS has all pre-season but if he can't stay fit then it's pointless.

Think he said before the season started he is looking for consistency this season so glad he is aware and hopefully doing everything he can to stay fit.

Don Pacifico Cala will get majority of his minutes (when fit) against teams that play/attack as infrequently as AB did yesterday. MLS defends better, and Arteta is a safety first type coach (I've probably said this a trillion times). So in games against trickier forward players and pacier wingers, Myles ftw.

Just play him once a week in key games and let MLS take the rest. If we can get 30 league games from Calafiori at his best then we'll be in a great place

Mirth exactly. Same deal at right back. I want heavy, heavy rotation of the fullbacks this year. They just need to stay fit first.

Qwiss yep, in addition to Calafiori being injury prone, we expect a lot from our fullbacks. It’s no surprised that 3 out of our 4 options have carried some kind of knock.

he was a victim of a stop start season so we only saw glimpses of what he was capable of. if he can get a run of 10+ games staying healthy he's going to be great

Against more tricky and quick wingers he can look vulnerable but no doubt going forward he has the potential to be a force. So elegant and smart with the ball.

Freak of nature, the injuries are the big doubt about him but this guy is so good on the ball.
