Here's some pictures from the game, I was able to go with a friend! Actually never visited the LA Galaxy stadium before this, but was nice to have seats close to the pitch. Wasn't bad getting in and out.

He'll be very close to the first team if we sell Nelson and ESR and don't bring in another forward anyway. For 10 and RW we'd only have Odegaard, Saka, Jesus (when not playing at 9), Vieira and Nwaneri. 4.5ish players for 2 spots.

What I saw there kind of reinforced some worries I had about him. He's a bit rash and goes into challenges rather than holding the player off and making a standing tackle but worse is that he has a tendancy to run past the ball into advanced midfield areas despite playing as a CB. That ill discipline will need to be cut oit of his game by Arteta and hopefully as a fullback it won't be costly.

But on the positives, he passes the ball well, keeps possession well when on the ball and seems quick on his feet. Just his off ball movement seems to me like someone who feels he should be playing further up the pitch.

I've seen you mention this before and I can't help but feel that this is by design. It's another layer to our unpredictability, another avenue for attack. That Timber is a player that Arteta clearly highly rates and is clearly keen to integrate makes me think that we've brought him in for those capabilities that our other defenders don't have.

And when you look at Calafiori, he will at times play similarly further forward from what I've read.

Yeah I don’t think we’ll see much of him at CB to be honest. Saliba, Gabriel, White, Kiwor, Tomiyasu and now Cala are all ahead of him there

Asterix Could be proven wrong, but I think we're looking ahead to a season in which Timber will accept being a utility option as he returns from injury, barring the mildly improbable scenario he breaks through at left or right back based on performances, or serious troubles with White and Calafiori.

Speculation about Timber playing in midfield reminds me of when White or Chambers came in and we thought they might play as pivots. If it were to happen, you'd think it'd only be in matches that barely count, or in a truly hellish injury and suspension crisis.

Reality is we're all just waiting for Dules to make some smartarse remark because we forgot to finish a sentence on a busy Friday …

Arteta said himself that JT brings a different dimension to the attack when he returned at the tail end of last season. He gives variability and a different option plus helps depth
