Qwiss that’s a very tame penalty for something that’s taken more than 3 years to resolve. Considering the penalties clubs like Everton faced.

The transfer ban might also explain why they have aggressively bought in the last few windows, I mean their squad needed it but they have paid big wages and money a lot more aggressively than usual. In the past Man City have been quite strict with their valuations, if they deem the guy to expensive they walk away but they have shown a bit more urgency.

Yeah, that could be true if it turns out to be the case... But if the team they have now is the team they are going to have for the foreseeable future, i don't necessarily see them challenging for the highest trophies. Its a good squad, capable of beating most teams on their day, but they are inconsistent. Especially if any of their core decide to leave (i.e. Rodri), they could be in for a real transition period.

That being said, i still think they will not get that harsh of a punishment, if any at all.

They lost Gundogan, Walker and KDB in one window. That is the end of an era. That’s why they needed to augment in Jan.

Klaus there was always a good chance it would be a worthless punishment because the suspicion for me is they cannot govern and oversee themselves. Is that cannot secure a serious punishment that should be stripped of that power and have an independent body over see the league.

Anything but hefty points deduction next season and at least a two year transfer ban would be a complete joke.

I think 2 consecutive 40 point deductions. They would need to be great to stay up (their points total this year wouldn't have kept them up). And if they go down, they can't come back up right away (and may go down another level as players demand out).
I suppose the first 40 could be retroactive, they go down next year and West Ham stay up. Come on you Irons, right Pep?

RowJimmy don’t want a retroactive. It would knock them out of champs league and let them focus on winning the league. I want them out of the title race next year but still burdened by Europe

Personally, I want relegation and a hefty points ban next year. Make them have a near impossible hill to climb to get back to the EPL. This type of cheating deserves a multi-year struggle to get back to any type of relevance. Magic Hat on Twitter has said he still thinks they get relegated, a points deduction and a mandate for the owners to either sell the club or dissolve it. I think that's probably extremely optimistic thinking but I think there's a chance we see a combo of: relegation to Championship for 26/27, 40/50 points deduction in 26/27 and transfer ban for a year or two.

That would essentially be as close to a death penalty as we've seen in the English leagues but this is an unprecedented amount of serious charges. I'm not optimistic the punishment will fit the crime but I'm glad it seems we will finally get a little clarity on this in the coming month.

Sicario2 I can’t see them being relegated - agreed.

They may choose to accept the transfer ban and points deduction right now while they’re in transition though. May as well close it now rather than build the squad up and then risk being hit.
