I am so proud of this team and this club. A few years ago rival fans were mocking us for thinking we could even break back into the Top 4, now they laugh because we took City to the final game of the season for the league. Hold your fucking heads up and next season we fucking go again. If we don't do it next season then we fucking go again. Pep knows this as well, look at his recent interviews he knows we are breathing down his neck and he can't hold us off forever.

Our main problem was our CM, if Partey had given us 30+ games we'd be celebrating our title. Get that sorted asap and then watch this already brilliant team move up a level.

Sicario2 - Tier 1 Gave them a psychological edge and no surprise they won every game since.

Big talk from a guy who's team lost the Community Shield against us and took 1 point out of 6 in the league against us.

Twitter talk is giving it large about that match, we needed to make sure we didn't lose and that is what we did. The title was lost because in our last 17 games we needed to win 16, we won 15. That Villa game showed us our squad depth wasn't at the required level. As mentioned in another thread, City were flat track bullies this season.

JazzG I agree with most of this except the part about our squad depth. We played nearly a full strength team in that game, we just had a bad 45 minutes (second half). That undid us. We responded well and went on a winning streak to end the season.

I think my point is more that a lot of those players were tired, we had a lot of games after the international break and you felt like against Bayern and Villa we dropped a level physically. The problem was obviously we played nearly the same XI in all those games with little rotation.

I really don't think any of us should be beating ourselves up about this season. We've been brilliant, but we're competing with the Lance Armstrong of the Premier League.

It’s also good for us fans to start hating on City and creating an actual rivalry not too dissimilar to what we had with Man Utd in the 90s/2000s. I want/need our players hating them too. Shame Artera and Pep are best mates and have too much respect for each other.

I know you may not be exposed to many City fans as others but they go right to the top of the list for me:

1) City
2) Chelsea
3) Spurs
4) Man Utd (they are so shit that it’s hard to hate them as we used to)

I’m torn for the fa cup final. 9/10 I would say City but would also like to see them humbled.

From here on in, I declare war on Man City. If we play them in the Charity Sheild I want to fuck them up.

There were ten matches during the season where a win in place of a loss or draw would've won us the league.

Out of all of them, drawing away to City at the Etihad was one of the very hardest results to improve on.

If anyone says we could've just had a few cans of spinach, hopped on the bus over there, "played to win" with a "tough mindset" and taken all three points, we should've finished on 110 points by the same logic.

United fans are the worst I reckon, the least human anyway. Round my way you get these dad-aged fellas who went plastic for United in the 90s then never gave it up till they had the personalised number plates. The type of people who I imagine post on LinkedIn a lot.

The City fans I know are alright, they don't try to wind you up but they've been watching City for years, down the divisions, etc They know what they are too.

Qwiss In my country United and Liverpool fans are still the worst. City have almost no presence here and most of their fans are little kids.

Ironically the little Spuds fans I know here were all okay with us winning the league. They said we were the best "real" team this season. They wanted us to win the league and them qualifying for the CL

Honestly, I've never met a Man U fan that wasn't a total prick. It's legit an 'absolute wanker' beacon (No, shutup you total bellend, Ryan Giggs is not one of the top 3 Prem players of all time...).

Liverpool fan's are annoying, think they're God's gift to the game but you can have a decent conversation about football with them. Not possible with Man U fans. Guy I work with is a Liverpool fan, was absolutely desperate for us to win the league when it became clear Liverpool had dropped out. Came over to me today to talk about the weekend, could see he was genuinely gutted for us.

I think we've been very good to perform at the level we have for 2 seasons but I'm under no illusion that you can project forward we will just replicate that. It's very hard to match that level of consistency and hope that all other factors remain unchanged. It's why I think it's so important to make the most of your opportunities and we are in that window where maybe we have 4 or so years to try to maximise what we can. I think next season Chelsea will be back in the top 4 battle as well and you don't know how what pans out. If so somehow get ourselves into the face t again next season we really have to win that one I believe. Certainly the team need a trophy to instill success as well so I think a trophy is needed next year.

awooga83 I couldn't disagree with you more. It's just pessimism without any grounding in reality. Look at what we've done, what we're doing, and what we are obviously planning to do. Listen to everyone around the club. The scenario you paint isn't realistic, it's the illusion you're so keen to avoid.

We will continue to excel, trophies or no trophies. Until the era changes, but that isn't now.

If Arteta doesn’t win a trophy next season he and we will be under HUGE pressure, potential or no potential. You can’t go 5 years without a trophy at this club - well you can unless you’ve got cash in the bank (Wenger).

We're about as well placed as we could be in terms of squad age, attitude and structure.

City meanwhile have at least three looming issues: key players aging out, PL sanctions which could easily hand us the advantage in a title race (points penalties, transfer bans), and Guardiola's potential departure which might be hastened by the first two.

We're in a strong league, but it's not too easy to imagine other clubs stepping all the way up to our level over summer. Liverpool are going into transition, Villa, Spurs and Newcastle are well off it, and United and Chelsea are still messy as fuck.

It's not like it's going to be easy, but we might just get one firm hand on the crown again.
