Starting Trippier over TAA is just... not smart
Clrnc Southgate doesn't know his players.
This set up is perfect for TAA
Mirth he's a clown, he's a clown, he's a clown.
JazzG how national rally of them.
Meatwad how national rally of them.
Most of the ones saying that are black so I somehow doubt that...
Looks like England are using the same 4 2 3 1 they've used all tournament.
England's shape is looking decent in the first few minutes IMO. More passing options when players receive the ball.
Much better setup with the wing backs but Trippier is still a liability.
Coombs looks exactly the same lineup as before. No changes
Clrnc not at all. It's 3 atb.
Coombs not at all. It's 3 atb.
It's basically the same except for the fact that Foden has been told to stop even pretending to be a winger.
Foden and Saka playing on the same side as well.
DiabyKungFu it's not. It's very different, and much better.
You guys watching the game or just on Twitter?
Coombs You guys watching the game or just on Twitter?
Are YOU watching the game? Saka is taking up literally the exact same positions.
DiabyKungFu yea, he's playing on the wing. But so is Trippier and there are 3 CBs. Saka is holding width on the right and Foden is right next to him instead of on the left wing. I really don't know how this could be a debate.
Saka playing a winger/wing back hybrid. Really far up the pitch but in defense he's essentially a RB.
He's been bright so far. Kane is a lazy fucker
naz Really far up the pitch but in defense he's essentially a RB.
The winger always drops back to defend in rest defense. This is a Rorschach test.
Mainoo and Rice looking good
England are also currently on track to put up 0.6 xG this game, so I'm not really sure how it's "much better" thus far.
DiabyKungFu lol. xG, the ultimate narrative stat. Give it up.
Foden is a great player but a poor footballer. In fact so much of this England side lacks intuition.
Burnwinter so much fluff. It's much easier for him at city to float around and do damage. He's been poor when asked to be the main man
England hasn't been on the defensive most of the match so far though.
They're very slow in build up. Nothing's changed there.
Coombs there are 3 CBs
Teams playing a back 4 typically build up with "3 CBs" nowadays. I don't think this really constitutes something fundamentally new. As I said, Foden's role is totally different. That's the only really substantial change I can see.
