Don Pacifico Opinions, but I think it's exactly he way most have interpretated it. I don't think it's ANYTHING to do with carrying the hopes of Portugal or feeling he'd let them down, it's a personality disorder playing out, an extreme severe one too. If Ronaldo could choose between scoring every game and having a stunning Euro individually but Portugal falling short or having a quiet tournament, 1 or 2 goals in the group maybe, no impact in the final itself but Portugal win the whole thing, I firmly believe he'd choose the former.
You may point to the way he got behind the team in the final of 2016 as evidence I could be wrong but that was different, he'd gone off injured and there was nothing he could do - may as well get behind the team. And besides, he was a force at that time, any win for Portugal at a Euro/World Cup would just be attributed to him overall by default anyway.
Best wishes Invisible/Kel.
