A fit Neto for most of the season would make us title winners. He's everything we need in an addition to our attacking line and has already shown what he can do against City on his own as a one man wrecking crew. The injuries are extremely worrying but a healthy Neto might be above Nico on my list and I love Nico.

Cannon Stats ran a wide analysis of strikers the other day and Havertz reportedly came out in top spot.

Take it with a grain of salt—couldn't even read the thing in full as it's partly paywalled—but post-Christmas Kai at 9 is a good answer to our striker problem.

We've got two more pressing areas of weakness: getting a consistent threat out of our left side, and the squad's rapidly obsolescing options to give us progressive passing in the build-up. We need to make good on a few sales, and improve in one or both of these areas—by hook or by crook.

Burnwinter there is one stat that will never make him a good striker. He does not score enough, he had a decent 4 month at the end of the season(not great, decent), but he won't do it consistently. It was painful watching him play for Germany this summer.

HomeSteak we were scoring a ton post Christmas when he was playing. The key is when a player is on, does the team make chances and prevent chances on the other end. Cleary does. Eddie is a better finisher than Kai, for example, but we just don't have the same fluidity when he is on

HomeSteak Havertz was painful for half our season too. No doubt we could upgrade him on end product considered by itself. We could bring in Toney for example.

But I don't think Toney would even start most of the time. We should focus on the other two issues I mentioned: a real threat from the left to give us goals as well as two extra yards here or there on the right ... and midfield where we've currently got our old men Partey and Jorginho inked in.

I'd rather gamble on Havertz being a force for most of the season than Partey.

Burnwinter yup. Striker isn’t or issue. All the data shows that we have a left side problem. We aren’t advancing the ball enough on that side, making us easy to stop. A LCM or LW who can cut in more is the key here

The other thing is the way the big teams of today dominate territory, I don’t think a big name scoring striker is the same type of game changer it was 20 years ago. Finding ways to create chances in dense traffic is the game changer here.

Agree with you there to some extent as well. Both are capable of overcoming their confidence issues but the difference with Havertz is that (touch wood) he's not injury prone.

I'd prefer Jesus to be sold simply because I think we'll see a reduced level from him as a part-timer on the left or up front in the cups.

Post holiday last season, our record was 16-1-1. We scored 54 goals in that time and gave up 9. That coincides with Havertz moving up front. We lost the league last year because Arteta was tinkering with players in different roles earlier in the season, trying to find the correct balance for the team. We found it after the holidays.

Would i like another great player up top? Sure. Do I think we need production on the left? Yep. I think solving the left side, and giving our team more threat from either side will go further to pushing the team forward toward the title than spending 60-90 million on a new striker. I also think another CM, one that can take over the spot of Partey would also serve us extremely well also.

This season is going to be brutal. Games were nicely spaced out last year and there were periods of rest. The new champions league format means we get to December playing every 3 days non-stop. So quality depth will be important.
