samthegooner Romano just said we are not in for Lookman and he is going to stay at Atalanta
Sicario2 - Tier 1 He's a good player but for 50m plus Kiwior, no thank you.
Sicario2 - Tier 1 good
If thats true its an acceptable price.
Hopefully get a big ticket attacker in before the window closes too.
Merino done. 32.5m euros + 5m easy add ons according to Romano, so Sociedad guaranteed 37.5m euros.
About 32m pounds then.
Yeah, looks like £27.5m which could become £32m. I think he's going to be really good for us once he's settled. A real threat to score in the box in addition to being an excellent linking midfielder and dual winner.
Excellent. Are we all going to the Emirates tonight for the unveiling party? I’m very excited about this transfer. We’ve had a physicality gap because of Partey and Jorginho. We are going to crush teams physically and mentally now.
Close to £75million for him and Calafiori.. our outgoings will cover that , so will we see a wide player or striker added to the squad?
The physicality of this XI is unbelievable: Raya, Calafiori, Gabriel, Saliba, White, Rice, Merino, Ødegaard, Martinelli, Havertz, Saka. Set pieces, duels, pressing – the best we've ever had at the club.
CPM love it. The invincibles were great physically and I’ve yearned for it since
lorddulaarsenal all of them except Saka, Martinelli and Odegaard are 6’2” or bigger. They are big, strong, fast lads. Opponents will expire at 60 minutes.
32m euros is 28m pounds initial
Cheaper than an eddie nketiah
Love this signing and hope we play him mostly in the LCM position and move Rice back to the 6. He can help defensively with his duel winning and stature while also hopefully helping our LHS dynamics to get back to a balanced attack. Also love the potential of him making back post runs for half space crosses, since we seemed to be focusing more on that in the Wolves game and I'd love to see more half space crosses in general.
Also seems like there are rumors out there that we are still in for Nico Williams, despite how much of a long shot it still seems. If we could somehow change his mind over these next 8 days, that would be such a perfect end to the window. I am not holding out any hope though.
samthegooner if Nico happened, I would lose it. We have an incredible first team. I just like the ability to keep throwing weapons at opponents at 60 minutes in each game, and the ability to lightly rotate game to game. Will give us that resilience City have. That's how you get 90 points and call it a day. Fuck you, Pep you bald cheat.
I think we hold out to see if we can somehow pull a rabbit out of a hat with Nico over the next 8 days. Maybe we try for a loan for someone like Sane or Raphinha to add some additional firepower but I doubt we do anything substantial if Nico says no. Could see us going for the Real Betis winger prospect Diao (I think that's his name) but he likely wouldn't play much. I still like the team even without Nico as title co-favorites with City but the margin for error will be razor thin.
Then we go big next summer with Sesko and a world class winger (Kvara would be my choice but Nico, Rodrygo, Leao, Musiala would all be good fits as well and might be on the move).
One WC winger away from having our best ever squad. Let’s get it done.
I wouldn't say best ever squad , still need a 25-30 goal striker
GooneriC Saka will be that guy within 2 years. Just not quite yet.
GooneriC if you have a top winger you don't need that prolific striker. We are one top attacker away from winning the league imo
Claudius you just know he's about to make that leap where he goes from world class to unstoppable force of nature in the next year or two. He has seen and sussed out most defensive set ups and knows how to be efficient and make the most impactful decisions in the final third.
Ladies and gents we have a beastly player in the making.
I'd rather have a squad scoring 100+ goals over a league season than a 25-30 goal striker personally but that's just preference. I like having more balanced distribution of goals. Speaking of, it's crazy to think that in the Invincibles season, Henry scored 30 league goals for a team that scored 73 goals total (41%!). It's also crazy to me that last year's squad scored 18 more goals than that juggernaut of a team (91). I want to see us going for over 100 goals in the next two league seasons and I think it's doable.
samthegooner football changed. Because of pressing, roles have changed and goal distribution has changed.
