Mirth it’s why it’s obvious that var is broken. If the ref misses that sort of play in real time, and var does not think it’s worth revising then what the fuck is the point of the system? Even after a week where they’ve been so heavily criticized, the incompetence continues.

awooga83 great thing is unless they manage to sell off a few decent players, they are stuck with what they’ve got for the foreseeable future. They better hope that Jackson kid improves really quick. That attempt at the near post after taking out Gabriel had me open jawed in shock. Should be flagellated for that sort of finishing.

Missed this live (3am) so I caught the highlights at 7am this morning unspoiled … big fat grin after the half. Whatever happens this season, this is a particularly excellent Arsenal team to support. When we face rabble, we remind them they're rabble.

Watching the full length on the second display now as I get into work for the day.

Burnwinter it was on at 5am for me. Didn't plan on getting up but the garbage truck woke me at 5:06am. Missed the first goal but had lots of fun anyway.

Massive result. Really big to win these last two games after the Villa loss and CL exit. Looked like we might be playing into Narrative FC like last season so was huge to get back on track and make a statement. All we can do is win our games and make other teams have to win it. It may not fully be in our own hands but I've always preferred points on the board to games in hand. You still have to actually win the game in hand and the points gap can only add pressure to those games.

Watched the first half live before work (7am kick off) then the second half on my phone on the train. Always a bit awkward trying to hold in goal celebrations on the train.

Asterix I'm getting a glorious kickoff time for the NLD. Felt like I'd been up at 3am for our matches three times already in the last fortnight or something … gets a bit much. Where you are some of these later kickoffs are at dawn at least

Asterix it was 3 AM where I'm now, and it was the 3rd game at this insane hour for me, and I was thinking about all our fans doing this for every game. You really are amazing, I don't know if I could do it week in week out

Not a headline grabber or game changer but I thought Vieira looked sharp in his few minutes last night.

Qwiss Yeah, he looked sharp and full of desire, though he lost it a fair bit.

Given the scoreline at the time he had opportunity to do so, and I'd rather see him come on and try to impose himself on the game and force opportunities where he can rather than he passive and help see the game out. It was good to see that determination.

Qwiss I really want to see more of him. His talent is undeniable. Brilliant technique on him.

Before that diabolical red card and injury he had looked ok earlier in the season. Was making great cameo appearances for us. One thing I like about him he is quite comfortable and able to take risks that other players don't with his passing. I think he could still be very valuable off the bench.

Tam yeah I was pleased he was trying to make an impact even though it didn't work out every time, instead of his previous passive nothingness that's so ingrained into many of our minds.

Segway I don't know what to do with him. I don't think he should get any serious minutes in these last few games unless its like last night and we are coasting. If we sign a midfielder like Bruno G is there any place for him after that? He's 24 next week, is he too old to loan? He's not going to develop with the minutes he currently gets. There is talent there but it wont appear without him playing a lot more football.

Watched highlights again today and we were really lucky not to concede, good thing Jackson is a bit of a donkey at the moment because he should have had two goals. The 2nd chance in particular was some interesting defending by Gabriel....

I actually think signing Bruno could help unlock playing time for him actually. I think a Rice-Bruno-Vieira midfield makes sense in a way that no other midfield featuring Vieira has made a lot of sense in his time here. I think the big thing with Vieira is that he's an otherwise talented player that just turns the ball over too much. He can win you the game but you need to have two really good defensive partners for him to make sure he doesn't lose you the game. We've never really had that in any serious way which I think has been a contributor to his lack of game time.

He's got great ball striking technique. Tends to look great as a sub and then goes completely missing when he starts. He seems to be mainly Odegaard's understudy so him getting minutes is largely dependent on us going far in the domestic cups, which we've been terrible at in recent years. I think he's worth persisting with for another season but it's risky.

Feels a very similar story to Trossard until recently. And he's playing in a league he's already familiar with.

He showed some promise in the minutes he got just before injury. Think he just needs consistent minutes before he should be ruled out.

True but I think Arteta needs to show more faith and rotate as well, I think this season against Bayern and Villa you could see physically we looked dead on our feet. He needs to use his squad better
