Coombs yep it's a common enough ritual for me. Hopefully nobody screams the result out in the street (it's happened before)
In one of our games in Jan/Feb, I'd avoided the score so much, got home started watching it. Not even a couple minutes in I get a call from a friend who I hadn't spoken to for a while.
First words out his mouth were something like "big win for your boys that" followed up "5-0" or "6-0". Mind you thus isn't even someone who watches football beyond if its playing somewhere he just so happens to be. š¤¬
I was confused how to feel. Great that we smashed the opposition, or pissed because the moment was ruined. In the end I told him to not say another word, so I avoided the goalscorers and the time so was ok cuz each chance I was thinking it might be one of the goal.
Feels like Bayern will come into this match with nothing to lose but also sitting on a house of cards in terms of their team confidence. I'd love to see if we can push harder in the first 10-15 minutes to see if we could get an early goal and push them over the edge. The longer they stay in the game, the more confidence they will have and it would be huge to hit them in the mouth right off the bat with a cacophony of noise from the crowd followed by a quick goal to really put them on their heels. From everything I've seen and read about them this year under Tuchel, they can get rattled quickly and we have to make them as uncomfortable as possible from the jump.
Loved this preview from Billy Carpenter (worth the read if you have time!): https://t.co/DmxIIBdvmr
Coombs Don't you teach film studies or similar? Give 'em a live streamed discussion on sports broadcast montage. š
Burnwinter well, the topic for today is Raymond Williams's Culture is Ordinary. It tees up subsequent lectures on tactical media and the Situationist International - but is it really necessary? I mean, the ordinary person would probably opt to live their culture as a temporal trajectory that cuts across the strategic propriety of spatially dominant institutions like the University...
We need to give this game everything tonight, there's a bit of breathing space until the next league game.
Big Willie
I'll take a lesson from my father, and not impose my club onto anyone else, because if he did, I'd be a bloody Leeds fan right now, lol.

Faackin 'ell, that would have been grim.
But then again I got my baby bro into Arsenal when my other brother was trying to get him to be a United fan. This was around 2003 when he was 5 years old. And he probably didn't understand much until he was 8 in 2006. Kinda regret the fact that he's like Quincy (sorry Quincy), a fan (at least when he could understand what it meant to be a fan) since 2006 and who missed out on experiencing our late 90s early 2000s greatness.
On the other hand, getting my 6 year old son into Arsenal now so hopefully he fares better than my brother did haha.
Someone once asked me who my kids support. I smugly said āask themā expecting to hear Arsenal. The younger one who was 5 at the time replied Liverpool. When I reminded him heās supposed to say Arsenal he moaned āthatās cos you made usā
Was pretty embarrassing. Luckily I got him back on track, and he thanks me for it now.
Best offense in Europe vs best defense. This will be a fascinating watch. Iām just glad we have that spine from Havertz to Raya. Itās a security we havenāt had in a while
Claudius since when are they the best offence in Europe?!
Clrnc most goals scored per game played, I'd assume.
Clrnc highest xG across Europeās big leagues (unadjusted for league strength). Theyāre having a very weird season. Still very potent but full of errors. The Bayer season is making them looking much worse than they are.
goon he will be more a resilient man for having soldiered on through Mustafi.
Loads of Germans on the tube just now.
I hope Arsenal fans havenāt sold their tickets to them!
Sicario2 - Tier 1
Someone pointed out that thereās around 2000 āUEFAā tickets knocking about, so highly likely some of these will have been aquired by Bayern fans.
Hmmm me too. I want a full Arsenal crowd and a brilliant atomosphere whole game šš¼
Hope the team play without fear and enjoy this.
Perfect team. COYG
Surprising Bayern lining such an attacking lineup but lets do them. Defence with Dier lmao
Glad Nelli is fit. Love the boy. Letās go.
Bayern Munich XI: Neuer, Kimmich, Dier, de Ligt, Davies, Goretzka, Laimer, Sane, Musiala, Gnabry, Kane.
Subs: Upamecano, Kim, Coman, Choupo-Moting, Zaragoza, Peretz, Guerreiro, Muller, Ulreich, Tel, Mazraoui, Pavlovic.
Which battle are you most excited about?
Claudius Martinelli vs Kimmich. Cheese on toast.
Yes!!! No Zinchenko.
