Looking at the list of quarterfinalists (assuming Dortmund wins), it's so great for this club to be back among them again.

Porto was a very weird side to play and there was a lot of pressure to win a knockout tie and break that 14-year streak. Not sure we'll win in the QFs but I don't think we'll be so nervy.

Pepe LeFrits a great experience for arteta as well. our tactics flopped pretty badly, we barely forced them into any errors like we do in the epl. goes to show that in CL you can't just bully teams with athleticism. they're all superbly coached and do their homework.

lots of our players are building their CL experience in real time - guys like martinelli, odegaard, saka, rice, saliba, Gabriel - all relatively green at this level. this is a huge learning experience for them

Looks like Arteta was justified with those pre-season penalty drills even if some pundits were weirded out by it.

Well what a strange game. Quite frankly we were really poor over the two legs lacking quality and really not imposing our quality or looking like we belong in the top European sides. We had a lot of nerves and really struggled against the first decent side we've encountered so it doesn't look great for the lifting the trophy. But we snuck through, should composure to win the shootout and have to hope that builds our belief that we belong at that level and we learn from it.

The penalties were down were my season ticket was in the north bank so was good fun now that we won.

This is the most important win in Arteta era since maybe FA Cup final. It’s psychologically huge to get here for first time in 14 years. We won’t be this nervy in the quarters imo.

Look we may not win anything this season but it’s nights like these that make it all worth the while.

Great win in the end. Don't care how we got over the line, just that we did.

Our first UCL quarter final in 14 long years! Hopefully the players will feel the pressure lift a bit now and perform with feeling that they have nothing to lose in the quarter final. This is important experience for them.

This tie has me wanting to avoid Inter/Atletico at all costs. Would much rather a team that attacks us and we either come out on top or not.

The winner of Dortmund/PSV would be ideal but if not them, then give me Barcelona or PSG. Would ideally like to avoid Real, City and Bayern until the semis at least.

Fuck me that was an emotionally and physically draining game. It’s good to be back in the CL is all I’ll say.

Atmosphere was incredible last night, never seen the stadium so pumped up, even before kick off.

Porto made it hard for us last night by effectively pressuring us (amongst other tactics) but one of the things that frustrated me throughout was the way we kept hoofing their long balls back to them. Saliba and Gabriel in particular were far too hasty in getting rid of the ball when we desperately needed to maintain possession to exert some control on the game.

Yep we were uncharacteristically panicked and rushed so often. But trying to bring the ball down and play but forcing things too often. Clearly we lost ourselves in the moment if the occasion maybe still had some self doubt about what we can do in this competition. Hopefully this moment helps the team get past that.
