He probably wouldn't have made those saves, but I don't think he would have been in a position to have to make them. The game was quite open and chaotic, and today really brought home how much more composure Raya brings to the team. Ramsdale kept going long and missing the target, and neither did he allow us to suck Brentford in with his short passing.

It's no doubt an unfalsifiable claim, so sheer speculation on my part. But likewise the original statement that Raya wouldn't have saved it is also speculative.

I had the same thought, but think it was more to do with our centre backs not being able to be as dominant at the back as they normally would.

I do think we looked notably worse playing out the back though. Neither his long balls or his shot passing were quite on it, even by his own standards.

goon agreed, and to hark back to the point I made the other day about Raya, Ramsdale’s game today was quite reminiscent of Raya’s early games. Lacked composure, looked shaky, never seemed at ease.

Well that was a tough match, when it got to 80 minutes I didn't think we were going to get out with the win and was starting to process what that means and then Kai pops up. Such an important moment with the game tomorrow we have to be able to to make these matches count. We somehow got through and the Emirates was certainly buzzing in that moment. Gives a good boost for the Porto game which will probably have a similar vibe or at least that's how they will probably try to go about it.

Today was an excellent dress rehearsal for Tuesday night, wasn't it? Not that we played well in the second half, but it's an early look at what we're gonna be faced with.
