Clrnc back to this. Super important. Our ability to execute on set pieces is critical. Those are the margins that make control ball work. Even if we find it hard to break down low blocks, having that knowledge and confidence that we can make the breakthrough through set pieces is a huge bonus for the team. Add to that the newfound assurance within the backline and the goalkeeping position, and we have a good chance of making some noise come the business end of the season.

Don't think that's really fair, Martinelli has only had 15 passes to Saka's 35, Kiwior 17 to White's 39. We're very right-side focused and Odegaard has been playing much deeper than Havertz

Quality first half, great control and that element of ruthlessness that we've not always been able to execute. Really good effort and now we just need to do the game management and let some if the wider squad come on a bit later.

Don Pacifico don't think we looked up to much until the first goal. That's opened up the game but our reliance on set piece goals does concern me.

Predictable maybe, I don't really agree with this. Apart from one or two breaks after about 15 minutes, West Ham have had nothing. On the other hand, we've had them penned in and Trossard could have had a couple before the first goal. There was a stat that went up after about 25 minutes, we'd had 9 shots, 3 on target so we've been well on top.

Obviously, since the first goal West Ham have collapsed but it is - in my opinion - the direct result of the pressure they've been under all half.

RocktheCasbah I'd have to watch it back again (found the first quarter of the game a real snorefest) but can't recall much in the way of clear-cut chances before Saliba's goal. My recollection is that we had a number of low quality chances but nothing that incisive.
