Qwiss Of late, I had forgotten just how young they were blooded. Apparently Ainsley Maitland-Niles was the youngest (17) Arsenal player to appear in a UCL game under Arsene. Burnwinter I like this, although would like to save Saliba if at all possible. Really don't see the point in risking first 11 players.

The game isn’t actually completely dead rubber, you get £2.5m apparently for winning a group stage game. Every penny counts!

But yeah, we need to go full fringe. Maybe start someone like Havertz who’s had a reduced load. But our defenders are too precious at the moment. I think both the young defenders will start.

Phil I agree, yeah. I had White in there originally but I think Willy is actually the least crocked in the defence lately. Gabriel has been showing some signs of fatigue.

The others I've gone for the fringe players who'd get upset if they weren't picked.

It's a bit of a conundrum in midfield with Ødegaard coming off an injury and both Vieira and Smith Rowe out for the year, but I reckon it'd be unfair to Nwaneri to toss him in as one of the 8s, so I've done a Wenger and slotted an extra attacking mid out wide.

Qwiss because what good does it do them if they get battered 6-0? I'm not saying Arteta shouldn't rest players who need to be rested, but I don't think a 1-11 of kids helps anyone, least of all the kids. Obviously, this line is academic given the players Arteta has taken anyway. All I'm saying really is, to flip the emphasis slightly, is that Arteta shouldn't be sending out any players who are in that aforementioned red zone. Obviously I would prefer it if the team selection takes account of Brighton on Sunday.

RocktheCasbah Not an 11 of kids, but where we don't have anyone to play, play the kids. Nothing would happen if we get battered 6-0(we won't be battered)...as the first 11 should be at home/the bench.
If anyone in defence gets injured, Cedric is a starter in the busiest part of the season..and that equals to us having 0 chance of winning the league. Same in the middle, where until Partey gets back we are dangerously close to playing Elneny.

It happened just last year, the second Saliba got injured we were fucked. So lets just not do that again.

I'm not arguing we should do anything different. I'm just saying that whatever Arteta does tonight, it almost certainly won't be enough for some.

Of course we need to protect against the likes of Cedric starting games for us over Christmas - though I think I have slightly more tolerance for Elneny starting games for us than you... 🙂

Basically a full fringe team like this with so many young players will be interesting for most of us. Although in his latter years we had so many duds we had no room to play young players.

I remember last year in the Europa dead rubber against some nonsense team Arteta still started Gabriel, White, Ramsdale, Jesus etc instead of giving game time to young players which annoyed quite a few people.

Gurgen Yeah saw many rumours now from credible people that is pretty much first team bar 2 or 3 change (Kiwior, Jorginho, Trossard). Arteta-esque
