Proud of Arsenal and Arteta. Stood up for his belief, and well supported and defended by the club. Shame on the other managers for their deafening silence and lowly quips from Ange, Pep and Poch. 14 managers sacked last season but apparently they're suppose to eat shit decisions and smile.

KingslandBarge to be fair all managers pretty much do that.. I'm sure Arteta did similar when the Liverpool var controversy happend. It's part of them problem with the idea that they want fairness but so they call it with the same passion the decisions that benefit them unlikely.

Don't fall for the bullshit the media put out there after the Newcastle game. Arteta's actual comments on the Liverpool VAR situation at the time:

Asked for his thoughts on VAR after what happened at the weekend, Arteta said: ‘We had some big discussions before the start of the season and everyone had the right intentions to improve the game and find the best way to take it forward.

‘But it’s true that with everything that already happened this season, not just in the Premier League but in other countries as well, the pressure is increasing.

‘It’s not easy for them. It’s not easy for any club or any manager because that really affects part of the season or a result and that is a dangerous thing to do.’

Asked if he has sympathy for Liverpool, Arteta replied: ‘For sure, you know at the end you want to get what you deserve.

‘You want to minimise errors that you cannot control away from the work and the job that you do on a daily basis.

‘Everybody is trying to have a really clean and honest game but in the end you have to earn the right to win it and play in the conditions that the rules allow. When that doesn’t happen it’s extremely frustrating.’

Probed on whether more VAR training is required, Arteta added: ‘Well I don’t know. When they explain all the processes of what they’re trying to do it sounds really logical, but in the heat but when you’re talking about millimetres and interpretation of other things like the frames of the camera it’s very, very different.

‘It’s a shame that it’s happening but at the moment we haven’t got the right answers I think.’

For It's more the fact that if any manager wants to show that really cares about fairness they gave to say the same things in the games they get the rub of the green and they just don't which is why I don't have much sympathy for any manager with these things because they only complain when it's directly against them.

awooga83 Nah, I don't think they have to complain when they get lucky as it were—since when is that a guide to life? They're doing well enough just not over-celebrating the lucky moments. Coaches are under enough pressure to shape the morale and feeling within their clubs, giving the credit to their players and not the referees when they win is a part of that.

These decisions have sky high personal and collective stakes which is why people like Arteta get so bent out of shape by the VAR tragicomedy rubbing salt in the same old wounds nearly every week. The Project™ has shown us progress but Arteta is well aware if we don't win the league he'll be remembered as a footnote.

Burnwinter of course they don't have to but then you can't complain about unfairness because if a crap call or var goes your way but you just brush it under the carpet then fairness isn't what you want it's decisions to go your way. Which is perfectly normal behaviour it's just not a campaign to improve the standard of refereeing. It's also understandable if no one listens or takes it seriously because what manager isn't going to ask the ref to make every decision their way. You would have to demonstrate that you are as outraged when it affects the others team.
