My concern was always that his durability, especially given his playing style, would be tested going from being a rotational striker to starting every game for us.

I think he would be better served toning down the duel contesting and conserving his energy, which should theoretically give him more freshness of mind and body in crucial moments. However, that would be antithesis of what managers want from their 9's in today's game.

Said for months we had to sell Partey in summer due to injuries, age and the rare form he'd been in, you didn't have to be Tony Bloom to figure that out and I reckon it'll be a wasted chance.

We need a striker. Jesus fitness is nearly as bad as Parteys at this stage.

Anyway start Eddie or Trossard instead of Jesus. This isn't a game for Havertz up top, if he plays it should be in midfield. Although with Partey out I'd be more inclined to go for Rice DM with Ode and ESR ahead. We need something different to get this midfield going. No coincidence that Odes form nose dived with Jorginho in the team.

Burnwinter it's the signing of havertz that makes the partey injury sting more. instead of impulse buying havertz go and buy a proper 8 that makes rice work better at 6, and we don't have this problem

To be honest, I see it as a positive that we’ve had so many injuries this season and are still level with City.

It doesn’t make me especially worried about the games to come either.

Let’s hope the second half of the season and Xmas period is disruption free.

In a relatively similar vein, I have also been left impressed this season with how the team have been able to draw or win games (away ones too) when 3+ starters are having stinkers. Just as soon as I feel emboldened by this team's prospects if it consistently carried 1-2 less passengers I am little worried about the sick notes.

Rice's game is demanding and this club should have the capability to rest him without experiencing a huge fall in quality and there has hardly been a week where that option has been available. Ødegaard looks mentally taxed and we lack a single alternative creator that is firing. I've not been very convinced by anyone thats played RW when Saka isn't. Jesus and Partey played a big role for me in the letting the title slip away in those final months. Definitely need a Jan boost if we're serious about our season targets.

I'd like Nketiah, Smith-Rowe and Ramsdale to start tomorrow. Possibly Elneny too.
We really need 1-2 attacking mids beyond Ødegaard to start achieving fluency and threat heading into Winter.

KingslandBarge I'd think Nketiah is nailed onto start. Agree with you about Ramsdale & Emile, but would be surprised if they got starts and am very confused as to why you'd want Elneny to start - in place of... who?
