This brand of football only works if you don't concede sloppy goals. Both Saliba and Raya cost us today and it's a miracle that we got a point out of the game. We are still so reliant on Saka despite him having a poor game as our attack is powderpuff.

Arteta should have just rotated them. Takes the pressure out and kills the constant coverage.

Garbage performance and another match where we struggle to create chances. We've looked slow and predictable all season, and I think this is a problem that won't go away anytime soon. Arteta's obsession with control and structure has made us easy to defend against.

Kel Varnsen the entire system relies on us drawing opponents, breaking the press from our own half, and then outnumbering opponents with our frontline. the first half of that equation relied entirely on partey and to a lesser extent zinchenko last season. this season has been a study in what happens to our 'system' when you don't have midfielders that can break a press. it also calls into question the whole system when you have such a critical single point of failure designed into it

Strange comment. For better or for worse (the think the evidence points to "better" personally), all of the players looked drilled to within an inch of their life. "They don't know what they should do with the ball" is a different statement from "I don't approve of what they are being told to do with the ball".

This is exactly what people were complaining about a few games ago when we supposedly dominated the game courtesy of a deflection and two penalties (can't even remember who it was against, Fulham maybe). Things just seem very difficult for us, almost every game we've played has gone to the wire. It's not sustainable to keep expecting us to get penalties and deflected goals when we create so little game after game.

Happy with the result considering the circumstances but we really should have been dispatching them quite easily. They are a really poor team despite whatever xG stats tell you considering almost everyone they've played this season has been bottom of the barrel. They've won one home game since March ffs.

I think it becomes LVG-like when our attackers aren't exploiting the overloads or 1-on-1's and Guardiola-like when they are. Our attack is still so contingent on Martinelli and Saka to create, but they aren't playing as well as last season. Largely, because of how we're building up play, but also because of their own performances.

Nah, there’s a difference between knowing what to do and knowing what you’ve been told to do, and we’re clearly at the latter stage. That’s why we sometimes end up pinned back and forced into hitting it long via Raya.

It’s the one reason why I’m not saying we should bin it off and regress, because what we’re doing definitely isn’t the desired end product beyond a superficial high level of possession. The patterns are not materialising.

And yeah it’s true, we beat City and are still undefeated. But it’s not been fun.

Arteta needs to re-think his tactics - no one wants to watch this terrible, slow, shit passing at the back. Why are we not passing out of the press like we were last season with quick, 1 touch passes?

I'd be pleasantly surprised if he dropped Raya but can't see it happening. How many times have we seen this film before?

daredevil our attack is contingent on our back four or pivot midfielder breaking the press. that pipeline has tried up, and all our creative players have been easy to mark out of the game as a result. saka, martinelli, jesus and odegaard have been choked out of games. they also look like their confidence and form have taken a hit collectively.
