Yeah, his issue there is that he confidently says things that don't seem to mean anything, or seem extremely ambiguous. The other issue is that lack of practised humility that gradually wears on you. He's just dropped Ramsdale and now he gives himself credit for signing and selecting him?
I don't have too many Arteta "red flags", I think it would be dumb to hit him too hard for, say, signing Havertz unless it becomes a real pattern.
A couple of Sicario's are contradictory above. Not gonna criticise a guy for both indecisiveness with his selections and backing favourites, it's gotta be one or the other.
I am also not going to criticise Arteta tactically when we've just come off our highest scoring season anyone can remember.
I do have an Arsenal "red flag" which I've already written about, which is that we seem to be encouraging Arteta to become a single point of failure—we need a more squad-centric and club-centric outlook overall.
This league is so competitive that despite his gifts and the generous backing he's had, in a few seasons Arteta may never have achieved his greater objectives. If and when Arsenal moves on from Arteta, I want our next manager to have money to spend and the foundations of a high quality, balanced squad.
For obvious reasons we can't leave Arteta in charge of providing for his own succession—Wenger of all managers was probably the one who might have been capable of such prudence, but even he couldn't make it there in the end.
