There is no doubt the cups do have merit and obviously bring a feel good factor around the club. Also helped Man Utd qualify for Europe.
But there was not a single time we won an FA Cup, when it felt like we were in the fucking trenches, I thought you know what I'd rather have this cup then be a team going toe for toe for the title. I saw the cup wins as papering over the cracks. At the time things felt so shit any little success boosted morale though, I'll give you that. For Arteta it just took the heat off him and made it easier for the club to justify keeping him but not a single one of those players who started that FA Cup final are in our current team.
