JazzG Problem with CF is apart from Osimhen I can't see another striker who comes in and improves us. He'll be stupidly expensive and I think we are gonna end up in a bidding war with PSG. If we are gonna spend big money on a player from Serie A Leao is the one we need to go for imo, I think he can play across the whole forward line.

Don't think the strikers that are out there are any more of a gamble than the wingers. Leao isn't what we need anyway, we have Martinelli who is as good or better, and younger and we have Trossard on that left side too. Leao isn't really a right sided player either, not that you'd spend £100m+ to compete with Saka, that'd be madness. Like I said I wouldn't mind signing a cheaper winger but using most of our transfer budget to get one would be a mistake IMO.

JazzG Most important signing we make in the summer is CM, that has to be our No.1 focus this summer, if we sign a top player there we can afford to miss out in other positions.

I agree here. Although I think we need 2 big summer signings. One up top and one in midfield.

I also don't subscribe to this theory we need a 25+ goal scorer striker. City and Liverpool in recent years have both proven that. It could be argued that Haaland is what got them the treble but I think they won the treble as other teams in Europe dipped in quality rather than Haaland making City better. City of a few years back was a better team than City last season imo.

I think Leao is ready to become one of the top players in the world and I think Leao could even become a striker, he gives me Thierry Henry vibes....the type of player you pay money to watch. Signing someone like him is a bit of a pipe dream but if he was to become available we should be all in for someone like that. I think our summer signings will depend heavily on how we finish but also who we can flog in the summer. If we can move Ramsdale, Eddie & ESR for good money we might even go big in all three positions.

Martinelli is one of the weaker players in the XI these days. He made up for his lack of composure, tunnel vision, one-footedness, etc. with end product last year, not so much this year. Still love him but signing a top winger would help bring the squad up a level, even if Martinelli hangs on to the LW starting spot. Jesus is always hurt and Trossard is nice but not a top player, and I wouldn't mind moving one of them on to make room.

In my opinion Martinelli is one of the best left wingers in Europe. I struggle to name 5 better left forwards currently and wonder what else people are expecting from him. He's playing the system how he's been asked to and sacrificing a lot of himself for the overall team shape by staying so wide so often.

There's a reason why Arteta loves him so much even though he's not getting as many goal scoring opportunities as he did last season due to the change in shape. I'm 100% sure had we been playing to his strengths he'd score a bucket load. He's one of the last players I'd replace after the 2 CBs, Rice, and Saka.

Think he'd probably get into any team in Europe not named Madrid and maybe PSG if Mbappe is still playing on the left.

In all honesty though for @Big Willie , I agree. I would say only Vini Jr, and arguably Kvaratsheklia is kinda ahead of Martinelli. Liverpool fans would also say Luis Diaz but counting him, that's only 3 players. I am not convinced with the other names that is mentioned ahead of Martinelli like Leao and Nico Williams. Mitoma has been hampered by injuries and Neymar & Mane is past it.

Toney links have died down? That's because the winter window is over and the the clubs are in the business end of the season. We have had no links for a while but that doesn't mean we aren't going to sign anybody.

Martinelli one of the weaker player in the 11? A person who doesn't actually watch football but looks at the statistics.

I love Jesus but he'd be city's third choice right now. Only osimhen improving us is like 10 years ago when the forum said the only improvement on Giroud are the likes of Benzema and Ronaldo.

Gunner89 when we were tearing up the league before the World Cup, Jesus was our best player and candidate for best player in the league. He was widely recognised for setting the tone for hard work in both directions and making the offense dynamic. We haven’t had that Jesus since his World Cup injury, and will probably only get him back next season based on rumours about how we are easing him back following previous attempts.

Jesus’ work rate and versatility is likely why we wouldn’t get Toney. He has neither quality. He’s also the kind of guy to go in the papers and talk shit about his club. Our team is filled with dull goodie two shoes who work hard. Toney is not that guy
