I thought this years CL knockout stages were excellent to be honest. Anyone claiming they could see Madrid and Dortmund being in the final when the quarter final draws were made is a liar.

Is it really that different? I mean this decade you had Spurs, Dortmund, Inter, a shit Chelsea and Atletico x 2 get to the final. In fact a quick glance tells me we've had a similar number of unique finalists this decade than last.
What makes the CL special for me is the idea of playing the very best, potentially better or equal to anything we'll face in the PL. We don't need the quality reduced so that Giroud's Milan can be relevant again, we need Kaka's Milan back.
