Clrnc I got 42/60. Missed some I should have remembered like Galatasaray, Napoli and maybe Shalke (not that the latter was that memorable but I worked with someone from there who supported them at the time we played them). Also spent too long trying to figure out if there was another way to spell (or a different name for) Atletico Madrid - turns out we must have only played them in Europa - and that there are 2 r's in Villarreal.

The rest like Auxerre, Locomotiv, Montpellier, Udinese, Mallorca, Twente etc I would never have thought of them.

Big Willie patience. This was probably his second best game after the community Shield. He was better integrated than previous games. Jesus and Trossard for a few games will be good for him.

Havertz was ok, but fans are desperate for him to work out, so he gets praise for even the simplest things. He was among our 3-4 worst players yesterday, as most of them played very well.

Great champions League night at the Emirates. We looked good and scored some nice goals. PSV are not a great side act the fact they tried to go at us have us so much more space and time then we are used to. I am not sure how much you can draw from from this one match but we can only deal with the team in front of us.

Only low point was getting stuck in the tube queue after the game for 40 minutes and absolutely drenched in that rain to the point most of the things I had on are still damp this morning.

Great to hear the CL anthem again at our place, feels like a lifetime ago when we were last in the CL.

I don't think our performance was particularly great but very efficient and cruised through the win, exactly what we needed.

I think Ødegaard rightly got POTM. Sharp and fluid from the first minute, and all our initial attacks were flowing through him. Very Cesc-like indeed. The intensity didn't let up either. You could see him pressing by example in the dying stages with the substituted contingent. 12.7km covered, 7th highest among anyone from the first round of CL fixtures. Pleased he got to top it off with a goal.

Do you remember how consistently Henry would cut in from the left we out the curler? Odegaard is also starting to get his own trademark with a consistently well struck 15 to 20 yarder that goes low into the corner. These aren’t hit and hopers. They’re low sizzlers. So much of what he does is so well thought out and executed

Claudius Generally when Odegaard receives the ball and creates space for a shot, he generally give a good test to the keeper.

He seldom balloon it into the stands like Ramsey style and is technically very consistent.

He will reach Lampard level of consistency with the shots soon.

Vieira is also pretty consistent but he aims to the top corners.

It's worth watching the replay of Ødegaard's daisy-cutter against PSV a few times. It's a crisp and purposeful touch he takes, and he knows exactly what the position and movement of the ball will be for the strike in advance, relative to the goalmouth. Secondly, the focus of his gaze over the ball as he strikes it is completely unbroken. It's a more or less technically perfect finish, but straightforward. We're going to see many more, and I don't think Fabregas was quite his equal in this aspect of the game.

That said, it's becoming a trademark finish from Martin now.

I was just thinking about our best post-Invincibles teams which would make incredible matchups. Hard to get away from recency bias, but would be interesting to see what team was better

I don't think this XI played more than a handful of games together thanks to Rosicky and van Persie being perma-crocks.

The biggest difference in the teams isn't the starting 11 but the amount of depth we have. Wenger always had a very light squad, even during the Invincibles.

We sort of lucked into / built up this current squad to be the best since the Invincibles. Cesc still had to play with Flamster and Clichy, although Song had grown into a pretty good player back then too.

Our team now is easily the 2nd best we had post invincibles behind the 2008 edition, but they still have the potential surpass it.

It’s probably 5 or 6x more expensive than the other 3 sides combined though haha. Wenger performed miracles with those players. Most of them looked terrible once they left

Mirth yeah probably replace RVP with Eduardo. Will never forget that team plus Eboue tore a prime Milan team apart in the San Siro. Hleb and Cesc ran rings around Gattuso and Pirlo, with Kaka hid in Flamini pockets

Here's a few players who wouldn't get a sniff in this Arsenal side: Walcott, Mertesacker, Flamini, Almunia. Those guys would barely make the bench.

I think Arteta would probably show a surprise love for Giroud and have some weird idea about how to use him.

The rest of the individuals in those past XIs were great players for the most part, someone like Kolo was a pretty absurd athlete, Sanchez, Van Persie, Arshavin, Fabregas, Adebayor, Nasri were all amazing on their day.

The offensive tactics we use now would open up those old Arsenal sides like a can opener, but we'd still be vulnerable against all these sides, they're stacked with electric talents.
