First, did we buy a player of high quality and who fits in the system, on paper?
Second, is the manager exploiting that resource appropriately. If we spend money on a player, ideally he is someone who plays?
Third, does the player, given the above make it work?
Fourth, were there extenuating circumstances, eg injury
The reason it is helpful to break down these questions like this, is it’s useful in figuring out where the actual problem is when a transfer doesn’t work out. For example, we can all agree that Cedric didn’t stand a chance because he just fails Question 1.
