daredevil yeah. this is the thing our haters miss. Our team works on every detail in preparation. and on the field, they leave no stone unturned. Our goalie and defenders celebrate every big defensive play like it was a title winning block. Every set piece on both sides brings out maximum focus. We have had more talented teams in the past, but I cannot recall an Arsenal team that was this deliberate about the details.

Gurgen we wish we were. Nadal has one of the best mentalities in history of sport. Street fighting and grinding it out perhaps we can relate it to Rafa.

At best I suspect we will be the Andy Murray of Football.

Sicario2 that's actually a really good analogy.

Andy made the most of his talent and managed to have considerable success despite competing in one of the toughest eras, if not the toughest in professional tennis. He was an amazing tennis player, not being as quite as good as three guys who would all feature on a tennis version of Mount Rushmore is no shame.

who is Spain's no. 1 keeper? Sort of insane he doesn't start for them. Maybe a big CL final performance gets him higher visibility

Think it's usually Athletic Club's Unai Simon. They called up 4 keepers to their last squad, Joan Garcia is one of them - but I can't remember if he's the one who's just been called up or was already part of the group.

Simon is Spain's #1 keeper at the moment. Raya is probably the #2, although i would think at this point, he's gotta be a serious shout to start for them. Simon is a good keeper, but Raya (maybe its Arsenal bias) is a step above him at this time.

The crazy thing about all of this is - apparently Joan Garcia is even better. Which would have been wild had we signed him and he displaced Raya.

Would have been some Pokemon style upgrading.

I'm not familiar with Joan Garcia at all. In which aspect is he supposedly better? Raya's pretty much a complete 'keeper.

Admittedly, I don't watch any football apart from Arsenal games, but we've come across some great 'keepers in the last few seasons and at the moment I wouldn't swap Raya for any of them.

Although I wouldn't think so based on watching him, Raya's shot-stopping stats aren't very good in the league. Based on the shots he's faced he's expected to concede a couple of fewer goals than he has. He's very good at preventing shots in the first place though, and in the Champions League he also has excellent shot-stopping stats.

Raya’s only criticism as a keeper is his height. But the old Real Madrid keeper was the same height and he didn’t have a bad career 😉

Gutted for him, he saved one of the penalties which should have been enough, and he would have deservedly been the hero of the season.

JazzG being a goalie in a PK shootout is shit. This is a shot that goes in 80% of the time. If you wait for the ball to be kicked before committing, you’ll miss if it’s hard and wide. So just committing gives you a chance if it goes wide in your direction.
