Clrnc just saw the Lavia news this morning. I’m surprised he’s going there given the glut of quality. It’s risky.

Chelsea could have enough quality and time between games to really make a push. They’ll still need to deal with squad harmony given the large team and limited minutes - so expect some issues there around mid season.

Claudius Chelsea fans and pundits are saying that Chelsea has the best midfield duo in the league. Talk about overreaction. A very good midfield definitely but in the league it's pretty normal. Everyone has a top midfield pair other than Liverpool and Spuds.

Rice played about 90 passes with 92.3% completion against Forest, something like that. He saw a lot more of the ball than Tonali versus Villa, but people are acting as if the latter is the new Pirlo already. He looked good to me in a few of the highlights of a high-scoring match for the Toon, but we shall see.

Burnwinter I mean, the first week debut really meant nothing for both players especially if Rice is reportedly unfit but the stat you mentioned... Elneny probably is king at those.

Clrnc except El Neny never does his passes on the wing. All of his passes are lateral passes at the centre line. Rice was doing better work

Clrnc Well yeah, totally, it's just those bland recycling passes deep in defence, but Rice was highly involved and doing his job pretty well.
